Misconception in football - Players are so rich

I would imagine the top earners would be the music/film industry. Paul McCartney, Tom Cruise etc. I remember reading years ago that Sting's accountant embezzled 6 million pounds from him and he didn't even notice it.

Fuck me, I'd notice if someone took 6 pounds from my account.

Sting earns about $2m a year in royalties from the Every Breath You Take sample in I’ll Be Missing You alone.

I define rich as if you have an extramarital affair have 2 children with them , buy them a £2.5 million pounds house & pay tens of thousands £££ in child support and still have enough to pay for your wife & 4 children to live an extravagant lifestyle

Garry Nelson’s 2 books, Left Foot Forward and Left Foot In The Grave were a great insight into the financial life of a journeymen footballer in the 90’s. Well worth a read if you can find them.

Elite performers in sport, entertainment, business and life in general deserve exceptional earnings via base salaries, performance bonuses and endorsements.

The parasites who roach off the game ...agents, 99% of media, Utubers etc deserve nothing but scorn and abuse.

Watch Francis Lee's interview from 1972....prescient !!

If English clubs didn’t offer the players good contracts, they would go elsewhere. If fans didn’t buy tickets, the clubs wouldn’t be able to afford to pay the players, and the quality would suffer. So many smaller clubs would love to see their grounds fill, I personally have enjoyed watching my grandson in amateur Sunday junior league football. Supply and demand rules apply across the World, not just football.

I'm sure I read somewhere that match day revenue (including ticket sales) are a small portion of a top club's revenue.
