Missing Girl found, bloke arrested.

The question should be, is the age of consent correct.

Whilst I don't see the attraction if no one is getting hurt then why not. I was 13 when I started but I was already over 6 ft.

So you saying any bloke 20,30 or 40 can have sex with a 15 year old?
a Gillick competent one, yes. The CPS wouldn't dream of bringing a case for a normal fifteen year old unless the girl herself had made the complaint. The law rightfully assumes that magic sixteen fairies don't just descend and wave a wand and suddenly a sixteen year old has all the reasoning faculties a fifteen year old doesn't have. I am interested to see why people readily accept at fifteen it's not fine but at sixteen you can stomach it. Is it really just that you value words really on a piece of paper passed by Parliament rather than the underlying logic and/or morality?

Law obiding citizens...........

So you wouldnt have a problem doing it then?
Yes, I would, but then I don't think anything I feel 'iffy' about should be illegal. That's the difference between me and most people. Most people believe if they don't agree with something they have the right to make it illegal. I don't agree with fox-hunting but it shouldn't be illegal. Indeed, I don't even kill flies or wasps, I trap them and release them outside. That's how anti-killing I am, but I do not think I have the right to force my personal beliefs on others.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with the age of consent! Your confusing things, it's about a person who has been put in authority and has abused the authority given him, when you send your children to school you don't expect them to form a romantic relationship with their teacher! It's one of the perils of the job, young girls get infatuated, it's well known, but you don't act on it FFS despite her appearance she is still a child, and is not mature enough to make a decision of the magnitude like eloping with a 30 year old man, how long had it been going on? Would it have been OK if he had started the relationship when she was 13 or 14?

-- Fri Sep 28, 2012 6:21 pm --

Have you got Children?

So much of this debate in my opinion is about law and hard nosed facts.

But little has been said about the possibility that these two people are actually in love and clearly seeked to make a life together because of that.

If they are in love how can anyone moralise on there love.

I hope if they are they can weather the storm thats surrounding them and make a happy life together

But if you say 16 is just a number and other factors are more important...where do you stop? If you say 15 is ok then what about 14...13...
The law has to impose an age.

-- Fri Sep 28, 2012 7:25 pm --
