MLS / New York City thread

Average crowd in the MLS over 20000, I wonder if they talk about the MLS O
I lived just outside Boston.
Went to watch New England Revolution - a team representing 5 states..... average crowd 14,000 to 20,000.
No one in the area I lived and worked in talked about MLS.
Even at the tail gate parties pre game all the talk was about the PL games that had taken place earlier. I knew all the people at the tail gate parties by which English team they'd follow.

Now I'm in Tampa and watch City games at the pub down town. Lots of Yanks watching PL games every week. None of them chat about going to Orlando to watch a game. Occasionally someone on the City fans what's app group will ask if anyone wants to go and see Tampa Bay Rowdies at the weekend but that's it. No discussion about the Rowdies beyond that.

I watch a fair bit and the supporters look every bit as enthused at the games as I see at the Etihad. Though I don't get to many tail gate parties. The Waldorf is my pre game party.

I'm in Philadelphia, the Union is in the MLS cup, the Phillies (baseball) are in the World Series, the Eagles (NFL) are 7-0 and off to their best start in awhile and the only undefeated team in the league. The Flyers are off to their best start in 20 years and the Sixers(NBA) are winning and finally starting to play to their potential.
The Union play at 4:00 on Saturday in LA and pubs, where people, for the most part, don't give a rat's pitoot about soccer, are planning watch parties and several have stopped taking reservations due to safety laws.
The club regularly sells out (20,000) in a stadium that is 20 miles from the city. Obviously, it pays to have a winner, but the sport is finding it's place with the NHL and NBA but will never rival the Phillies or Eagles attendance wise or in the media. For those of us who have played the sport and watched Europe from afar, it is a wonderful time to be a football supporter.

It seems to have slowly recovered after Covid. I think it will continue to grow especially as the World Cup approaches.
I used to coach in the States for 4 Summers in the early 90s. Ladies were keen, but the lads usually had 2 left feet.

Us coaches once played a Houston 11 made up of the best local players. We only had 8. The Houston team wanted to give us some players, we refused and beat them 7/8 nil. They were quite hard in the tackle but totally clueless. They treated us like World Cup winners that night. We were all failed wannabees.
I remember everywhere I coached they were totally focused on formation and couldn't take in that basics were all that mattered. Pass pass pass.
What memories.
