The good news is that Jovetic is back. Hopefully he can start against Barcelona. He'll help us to retain possession better.

He won't displace Aguero or Negredo and I don't think he plays in midfield.

His best position is behind the striker. But he can also play in midfield, On the left or right.

I'd play Jovetic on the left and Silva on the right against Barcelona.

Pellegrini. “Stevan can play as a forward or a midfielder. "

Correct - Provided he is fit, he will fit in perfectly. A great player.

For a start we need to be hard to beat and the only way I can see that is if we play 5 in the middle with decent width, granted against the lesser teams we can afford to play with the 2 up top and get away with it, if we do it against Barca they will over run us as seen against Bayern at home in the middle of the park.....Yaya isnt the best defensively when under real pressure and having to run towards his own goal and Agureo isn't a play behind the striker type, he is an out and out centre forward, he does the working back but not with great effect or desire.....we have the squad we have so we can be flexible, Bayern away proved this, sometimes you need to take into account what the opposition are going to do and the game against Barca is such a game and I think Mr P will come up with something that is a collaboration of both what Carragher and Neville discussed

Something I forgot to add was if we do start with 5 across the middle expect Navas wide on the right and Silva on the left

-----------------------------Hart----------------------------
Zabaleta-----------------Kompany----------Demichellis------Kolarov
Navas---------------Milner----------Yaya-------------Fernandinho----Silva
---------------------------------------------Aguero------------------------------------

I worry we'll get battered playing 4-4-2.

It's a really difficult call and one i'm glad I don't have to make. It will be a big test of Pellegrini's balls I think, it must be extremely tempting to play Garcia in that hole and tell him to man mark Messi. The thought of us playing Ferna and Yaya and Messi dropping into that inevitable gaping hole, turning, then sprinting at our defence the way he does is pretty terrifying. If we can null that threat (easier said) we must have a fantastic chance, home and away.

If we do go with two in midfield, Vinny's performance will be vital. He likes to follow his man when he drops and hit him on his first touch. He will need to do that to Messi for nigh on 90 minutes.

It's a mouthwatering prospect that really could go either way. Whilst I agree with Neville to some extent, it is Messi we are talking about.

F**k it, play 4-4-2.
Haha my thoughts exactly.

Had a couple of nice touches last night. Looks to have lost a bit of weight as well.

With regards the Barca match, I think it's a no brainer that at home Pellegrini will go with two centre forwards. I'm actually beginning to think if everyone's fit he'll do the same at the Nou Camp as well. Kun/Negredo, provided they both work hard in protecting the midfield, will cause the Barca back 4 endless problems.

Last night was the first time i've watched him live and although it was a brief display you could see very quickly he'll be hand in glove with our system.

You don't have to see the lad live to know his first touch is sublime and he comes close to matching Silva in that department but what i noticed more than ever last night was his movement off the ball was intelligent and create space for others to operate, he's also constantly showing for the ball to feet and at times, dare i say it, desperate for it.

If/when he gets match fit he'll fill Nasri's boots with ease and i'll expect him to start against Barca alongside Yaya, Dinho and Silva in the midfield with Kun and Negredo up top.

Bang on about his touch and awareness and movement off the ball. I really think he's going to be some player if he stays fit.

I'm not sure he's right against Barca though - I think MP might value Navas' pace.
