Nearly everybody with common sense knows that Modric was nowhere near in the right frame of mind to play that game.

Regarding matches where Modric has played well in a 2 man central midfield; The performance vs Inter Milan springs to mind along with the demolition job of Newcastle last year and the win against Arsenal at home last year.

Also Modric played a vital role in the 2nd half turnaround at the Emirates when we went 2-0 down and won 3-2.

The performance against Liverpool at Anfield in the season before where the likes of United and City got beat and Spurs dominated the match and won 2-0.

Modric is a fantastic player and he is under-rated on this forum for some strange reason.

Don't let the facts get in the way will you Dave. City drew at Anfield - in fact we scored both goals! In a 1:1 draw.

Erm, he said the season before, which is, i'm guessing, when Liverpool beat City 3-0?

Having rested Silva and De Jong (when he was important) and 3 days before asemi at Wembley against Utd? Yeah, we weren't great.

Don't write this off...........

Real are favorites for Modric but don't rule out the Rags for his signature
At £35 million minimum, I doubt the rags will be in this auction.

I'm not sure of the figures involved but I do know that the Rags are still sniffing

Levy wants a player, or is at least willing to take one in a player + cash deal. If the reports are true and they're considering shifting Nani..could that be a possibility? Wages would probably be too much but they are likely to make an exception for Ade. Purely going of the Portuguese link, with it looking like Moutinho is off to AVB's Spurs.

I don't know the figures, in all honesty. Just can't see them letting him go for much less than this given what Chelsea were offering last summer.

Minimum it could cost em 20m + wages of at least 100k x 4 years = 40m overall deal yep it could be still on surprised they not going for RVP

Trying to second-guess AVB would be fruitless, to be honest.

Purely down to age

They were offered Sneijder recently for a knock down price but said no for this reason

Modric is a decent player but I really do not understand how some people rate him so highly. Just don't think he produces a consistent level of performance at all.

If Modic is worth 30+ million than it really is frightening how much Silva is worth.

£45+ million but in a way Modric was restricted under 'Arry as he played in a two man central midfield, having to fulfill both defensive and attacking duties. If he had a free role, like Silva and were more advanced, he'd flourish imo. I think any manager that buys him though will continue to play him deeper because he does link the play between defence and attack very well and keeps things ticking over. He's not on Silva's level though like you say, as the price tag would suggest.
