Moisés Caicedo

Not only have we not been linked with Caicedo, there have been claims denying interest. Don't see it. Chelsea will pay up
To be fair we were never linked by anyone to Paqueta, yet reports today say we have been talking to West Ham about him since our interest in Rice.

The club are very clever at sending out curve balls to selected members of the press which are then picked up by ITK.

We have a history of pulling off deals that NOBODY envisaged and Caicedo would make a lot of sense, far more than a LW with a few good months under his belt.

That is very true.

My personal take, but yeah who knows what may or may not be happening in the background.

I'm sure Caicedo is quite versatile as well. If I remember rightly, I think he played on the right in their 0-3 win at Arsenal towards the end of last season. It wouldn't simply be a case of Rodri OR Caicedo, in which case he could never be offered enough football. Truth be told, I don't think we're in for him.

Someone is, even Sky have picked up on it, and with Chelsea making a bid for Lavia they must be worried he is going elsewhere.

There is a post on the general transfers by dec that Kudus is holding up agreeing personal terms, insisting on a release clause. Bloom being pushed towards the bed he made.

Caicedo is, alongside Rodri, the best ball winning midfielder in the PL (perhaps in Europe).

We already have a next to impregnable defence, putting Caicedo & Rodri infront would mean that we concede about 6 goals a season, but also that Stones would stay at the back most games.

Imagine Stones, Dias, Gvardiol behind Rodri & Caicedo, with Grealish, KDB & Bernardo infront to supply Haaland.

And a bench of Ake, Walker, Kovacic, Paqueta, Foden, Alvarez.

12/10 window right there.

It’s good, but not that good we only play 10 players.

I've seen Caicedo play at CDM, CAM, RB & RW. He was equally adept wherever he played which made me sit up & take notice.

He wasn't a world beater in any position imho, but he was good in all, & we know Pep loves versatility. Add in his young age, PL experience & the fact he can still be moulded by Pep, I can see why City might take a good long look at him.

There were unsubstantiated reports two days ago from a City source casting doubt on Philips. The report said even in training we don't see any sign of him making the necessary improvements to succeed at City.

However the insider offered the caveat that we had the same feeling with Cancelo during his first couple of seasons with us, but he managed to turn his fortunes around.

I wasn't arsed about Caicedo to Chelsea & giving Philips another season, however Rodri's comments yesterday changed things.

Many have assumed Rodders is happy being rinsed for 56 games for City per season, not to mention Spain games on top, but I view his comments as a veiled attack on Philips who was supposed to be Rodri's competition/backup.

To me it sounds like Rodri's given up hope of Philips ever making the grade here, so Paqueta to City, with £35m & Philips to WHU sounds like the best all round.

This would give us scope to look at Caceido & test Brighton's interest with Palmer. £70m plus Palmer with a buy back/sell-on clause inserted sounds like a deal.

We lose two players & gain two players at a total cost of £105m. I think our summer budget can stretch that far...

With Chelsea reportedly making a £48m bid for Lavia yesterday, it sounds like they either don't want to go to £100m for Caicedo, or they're hedging their bets in case it doesn't happen. OR maybe they've got competition for Caicedo's signature? Who knows. \0/

Either way, we have to save our jewel in the crown Rodri from another season of relentless punishment. A combination of Caicedo, Kovacic, Stones & Lewis to replace & assist Rodders might be our best way forward.

Palhinha is the best ball winning midfielder in the prem.

Rodri is just straight up the best midfielder.

Caicedo is basically a young Idrissa Gueye.. busy, wins the ball and is tidy in possession. I was roasted on here when I suggested we sign Gueye from Villa as they finished bottom half of the table so automatically meant he wasnt good enough for us. Now i dont think we need that type of midfielder as we arent out of possession enough to warrant having a ball winning specialist who doesnt offer much going forward. Paqueta makes more tackles btw but actually has offensive qualities too.

I hoped Caicedo & MacAllister would have been our targets this summer. If true then lfc had a good/great transfer window.
