Monaco - Post Match thread.

Sorry but I don't get this 'transition' stuff. You either buy the right players or you don't. Bayern Munich for example refresh the squad every year and there's no 'transition' . There squad also cost peanuts compared to ours, Monaco's too. Txiki and soriano have a lot to answer for regarding the current deficiencies with this squad and the money spent. Mangala for a start and the fact Clichy, Sagna and Kolorav are still regular starters in the team is quite laughable. I'll give Pep his dues the Sane sterling Jesus idea looks really promising but what's happened at the back is criminal to all involved.

Totally agree mate as a whole , Pep gets the benefit of the doubt but Txiki is in last chance saloon , defensively we are a fucking shambles and have been for two years- despite spending well over £100 million.

No way.
This was mainly down to Pep's failure to get the best out of the players available to him.
Without repeating what has already been said Ya Ya should have been on from the start to strengthen the midfield at the expense of an attacker -Sterling?.
Then at 2-1 the case was overwhelming for him to come on to shore things up at the back, but again no change.
So we have to spunk another 200M so that Pep can have his dream team.?
Sorry anyone can successfully manage a team when money is unlimited, the trick is to manage a group of players with limitations by getting maximum performance out of them.
Time for a change of manager methinks.
Whilst I agree that Pep should do better than he is with limited resources, the last line goes way to far.
The rest of this season will certainly show if he is up to the pressure of the Premier League tmatch schedule and his ability to deal with deficiencies.

Gutted. If Kompany is fit he should play. I blame Pep for 1st half . If we played same first and second half we go through. De Bruyne has been poor for awhile. Yaya should have played also. I was looking forward to a going to Spain / Italy / Germany. I am not happy. Steer clear of press / FB everything until after the match on Sunday.
I was skipping Arsenal away to save for away in Europe. I will go now. This season will be over with a long summer ahead soon. Enjoy it boys. We have FA Cup only left. Not shabby if we win it and take top 3 Ahhhhh
Sane and Jesus are going to give us many great days ahead so we can be calm.

Kompany hasn't been playing for a while. We must assume he is struggling. KDB tired I reckon after playing non-stop. Yaya is a mixed bag. Good on the ball, non-existent off it. I would only play him in easy games

Stones worked out. Bravo has not yet. if you remember, Guardiola and City spent the Summer chasing Laporte and Bonucci. Deals don't always come off, and back then Kompany was in our plans

If he is as good as he's made out to be he should be able to make the very best of a player,a defence, an attack ,a team. At the moment I'm pretty fed up with his self indulgence. The Season is all but done now as Chelsea will kill us in the League and if we meet them in the FA Cup Final.

Absolute waffle, which player underperformed the most tonight?

Too early by far to say stones worked out, our best central defender this year has been a shit left back. Let that sink in.

De Bryne is a weakling defensive wise. The man backs out of 50/50's. We need players who give 100% and I think Pep has a huge job ahead to get things to work.

Obviously not we have had 2 managers with unlimited funds who haven't successfully managed jack shit. How do you suggest he gets the best out of the players available to him? Are you saying he purposely told KDB to be shit?

Mancini took over a largely poor squad and created history.

Pellers won a double in his first season, a trophy and a CL semi in his last.

I'm honestly not even that angry about tonight. I kind of expected it. The blame is by no means all on Pep though. The buying policy has been largely shite since the summer after the title win.

It's not actually Peps fault that this coming summer we need a minimum of 9, maybe as many as 11 new first teamers buying, to say nothing of the squad players that will need to be bought. Easily as much as £350-450m to spend again and then another season in transition to bed them all in.

It's a sad reflection that I go into games like tonight, and next time against Liverpool thinking "anything other than a thumping is a result".

I genuinely and honestly feel sorry for Pep (which is a change from earlier in the season). It's becoming clear to me that he has been sold a pup.

I agree, let's ditch Pep. Clearly had way too long at City. What is it? 2/3 of a season? Maybe even 3/4 of a season. One defeat in the League Cup; two in the Champs league. None in the FA cup. That, allied to the cataclysmic league form where we're currently dicing with joint 2nd. Yep, sack the ****. Len knows best.

Agree with a lot of what you are saying. However, I do believe Pep himself has underestimated the size of the challenge and transitional period ahead.

His recruitment in some areas was piss poor last summer, albeit we are unaware if that is solely his fault. To only bring Stones in at the back was asking for it, injury to Kompany hasn't helped.

There were some surprising exits and players who stayed, it's as if he wasn't watching the last season or two, when he says he was. Our 5 or 6 worst players from that period have mostly been a part of his squad. Still believe he is the right man long term, but the transitional period is going to be longer than anticipated, with some more big names out the door this summer no doubt.
