Monaco - Post Match thread.

It's difficult to disagree with a word of that.

As I said in an earlier post I am beginnning to think (actually started to think it a while ago) that Pep has had the job at city sold to him under hugely false pretences.

To give a manager who is the best in the world, a job at the most scrutinised club on the planet, in the hardest league to win in the world, a squad that contains players like Kolorov,Sagna, clichy as regular starters, not to mention an aging Yaya, Silva, Kompany, as well as a limited Ottamendi, and an injury prone Aguero and say "go on mate, the entire world is watching, crack on" was negligent in the extreme.

Seriously, I feel sorry for him. He is clearly a decent and honourable man, but privately I would bet my life that he is fuming at the job he has been handed.
Well in that case what a fantastic job he is doing.

We'd have won that game with Jesus. You stress all the negatives and forget that out of all the English teams, our prospects look brighter than any because we have got two genuinely world class players in Sane and Jesus whereas Arsenal have one, Chelsea have one and the rest of the league none.

You think City wont strengthen defensively this Summer. Of course we will and then you know what will happen

Yo

Pellegrini won a title with Mancini's team, the fact we have to spend another few hundred million just to compete in a league that has Leicester as the best English team in Europe speaks volumes. As a club we have had very little credit for what we have achieved and if you take the blue tinted specs off it's quite understandable really.

I don't know who's to blame with our transfers over the past 5 years, it's been nothing but a shambles. People blame ffp, Mancini sacking, marwood, txiki, pellegrini who ever it was spunking all that money has done a pretty shit job. Last summers dealings are promising, young quality players, thats what we should be buying. Hopefully it carries on this summer with the defensive side of the team. We're not far away from being one of the best in Europe, we just seem to lack several players in a few different positions every season. After this summer when we've stocked up our defence it will be how do we replace yaya, silva etc. I want to see a balanced squad with quality throughout, like Barca, real and bayern.

Not having that tbh. He's ditched the keeper and put Harts no.2 in and got a shit left back playing in CD instead of Mangala. The result is were leaking goals!!! No shit!! I could have told you that would happen before the season started ffs!
Quiet ridiculous really.

I've just had to come back to this again, I mean, last year if I would have said kolorov in CD would be our best option in front of Willy people would have thrown punches at me for being stupid!

Mangala is not the answer at least not in Pep's eye.

Kolorov should be a squad player at best but again he should have been replaced ala Sagna, Clichy , Zaba etc.

We're out of the CL because of sheer stupidity and stubbornness.
I'm not saying pep is shit or being over dramatic but jesus what did people expect would be the result of those actions.
Kolarov has done well in that role. Rome wasn't built in a day. You should know that because your team is in a far worse position

I agree but Mangala is better than Kolorov in CD. Bloody hell, stick yaya in there and that would be more understandable.
There's youth players I'd put there before a shit left back.

or all of these poor team selection and tactic + situation at Barca <-- Pep's exit strategy?

Pep wanted a challenge and he is getting one at City and I doubt he is ready to throw in the towel just yet. He was probably expecting us to be more competitive and would be a lot better than we currently are. Next season he will have a better understand of the league and start looking like a side.

dont think an english team will ever win the champions league until they reduce the amount of games played
Yeah, I think for a start, anyone in Europe shouldn't be in the league cup. It'll never happen though. Too much money in it. Even when you give the PL teams a break, they go and do an exhibition match in China or somewhere. I think the PL hasn't been doing well because they haven't had a team that's good enough to win it, and it's that simple. Name a team in England in the past 10 years that comes even close to a front three of Suarez, Messi and Neymar, Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema, or Ribery, Robben and Lewandowski. How many English teams are willing to break their transfer record when they're already comfortably the best team?

But for us what every failure has come down to in the past 3 years is our shocking defence. Every season, everyone highlights the full backs as an area that needs strengthening, and every season, we start with the same 4 players. Our recruitment at CB has been shocking. We haven't bought a world class CB since Kompany, despite trying to buy young and trying to buy the finished product. We've spent shitloads of money and yet this summer, we're still gonna be in a situation where we need a new LB, RB, CB and goalkeeper.

It's ridiculous really certain players get shit loads of abuse even though they are sub standard or passed it but the biggest failure at our club gets an easy ride. What a shit policy we have throw shit loads of money at it in the hope we may underachieve and pick up a trophy, and if we fail give the same pillock more money to do the same. I'm sick of seeing teams with players who cost and earn less running rings around us because our inept dof has a policy of overpaying for players who any halfwit could pick out playing Fifa 2017
