Monaco post match

Just watch this lad. We're building a worldwide fan base, because whatever we might think from one game to the next, we're definitely not boring....

Yeah 100%. Most people I know have these dodgy boxes now as it's too expensive to pay for sky/virgin with sky sports and bt sports added on.
UEFA obviously wanted more revenue and you get that from BT and Sky, so they can't complain about viewing figures. My main gripe is that the content from both of these doesn't seem to be any better than ITV or BBC for champs league. That match should have been watched by a record audience, i hope the return leg gets more views but as it will be on BT, i doubt it!

Whilst it should undoubtedly have been given, the decision to book Aguero was far more shocking than not giving the penalty (same as with Dean and Sterling). I've never had a problem with referees not giving something that later proves to be wrong. If he wasn't certain it was a penalty, he shouldn't give it. My problem is when they give things that haven't happened. By definition, he must have been certain Aguero dived; as he didn't, it was by far the worst of the two decisions.
It's the same with offsides. If the eighth replay and two lines drawn across the pitch 'proves' a player was offside and a goal shouldn't have stood, so what? On the other hand, if it proves another player wasn't and a goal is disallowed, that's a much worse decision, in my opinion.
Don't completely agree with that, if he's not sure he should ask the official who is stood near the goal for that purpose, just like he did for the Falcao incident. He was so quick to make his decision and so happy to show that yellow, didn't have time to do anything else.

This was a quote from 2014 about the 5th and 6th official - what a load of b******s
The positive results have been clear to see, as UEFA chief refereeing officer Pierluigi Collina explains. "The main goal is for additional assistant referees to give support when a decision has to be taken – particularly inside the penalty area, where a decision can affect the result of a match," he explained.

How many have we got on one yellow card? Let's hope Serg doesn't dive again
Raz, Sergio, Dinho, Otamendi and Zabaleta. The first two need to keep their noses clean for 3 (hopefully) games, the latter 3 we could absorb the loss of 1 of them if it was a necessary yellow but they need to cut out the shit, think Zaba and Ota were booked for dissent.

Thought yellows were wiped after this round?
Nope, they're wiped after the quarter finals, they brought that change in back in 2014 as too many players were missing the final through suspension (back then you could be booked on matchday 1 of the group stage and the second leg of the semi final and miss the final through suspension).

They really should wipe them after the group stages as well - the groups and knock outs are basically 2 separate tournaments.

So if we qualify for the next round those players have to see out 3 matches without a booking to have their totals wiped. We could lose Zaba (Sagna), Otamendi (Kolarov) or Fernandinho (Kolarov, Clichy, Yaya depending on role) although if we lose more than 1 it could leave us stretched/lacking in quality.
Losing Aguero or Sterling doesn't really bear thinking about - Nacho is out of form and low on confidence - hopefully this will change in the cup games and Sterling is absolutely vital to how we play at the moment, we'll be far more susceptible to the high press without the threat of the pace in behind of both Raz and Sané to keep teams forced back and we'll have far less space for Aguero/Silva/KDB to operate in when we do get the ball forwards.

Don't go there Ric, I've only just managed to calm down.

Watched the game back last night and the referee looked absolutely terrified.
I thought this also. Mind you he was watching Sane and Raz bombing one way then Falcao and Mbeppe the other thinking "how the fuck am I supposed to keep up with these fuckers"

Don't completely agree with that, if he's not sure he should ask the official who is stood near the goal for that purpose, just like he did for the Falcao incident. He was so quick to make his decision and so happy to show that yellow, didn't have time to do anything else.
Correct. It was the speed of the card decision which revealed the deceit.
