More than half of Brits want burka ban

Unfortunately more than half the population of this country were daft enough to equate our critical membership of the European Union to immigration and vicariously their own ignorant outdated and clueless bigotry . So this should come as no surprise, as clearly more of our population than we think is thick as fuck

I would love to know were you got your figures from.
I know quite a lot of people that voted for Lexit due to the EU being an undemocratic neo-liberal institution "I don't take my mandate from the European people" rather than some fear of "Johnny"
A perfectly well thought out couse of action that any same person would arrive at.

well you're a numpty aren't you. What an absolutely stupid post.

bigoted numpty.

bigoted
ˈbɪɡətɪd/
adjective
  1. obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, and intolerant towards other people's beliefs and practices.

I think your problem with the burka makes you "intolerant towards other people's beliefs and practices" mate - therefore a bigot /bigoted. :-)

It's not fair to tar everyone with the same brush. Decisions should be made based on some pre-agreed scale of attractiveness.
Just suggested this to the missus. She said I'd be forced to wear 3 burkas.

Banning it isn't even an issue for me. I believe anyone can wear what they want. I have a problem with people being told to wear it or being denied an education or the opportunity to get a job etc.

nope. They're intolerant of our culture by not respecting one of its core fundamentals of showing respect to others. They're the instigators by choosing not to treat others in western culture as equals and with respect and common courtesy. Promoting openness, respect and common courtesy between everyone is progressive and not bigoted at all.

That's like calling someone a bigot for telling smokers to not smoke in places where it's not appropriate. It's just incorrect.

Nice try. Maybe if they made more of an effort to be white it would help? Not sure you can catch cancer from passively inhaling other people's Burka's either tbh

And another post where you're accusing someone of racism for having a view.

Here's one, when my wife is out shopping with me, she has to cover her knees, shoulders and elbows.

Why are no Muslims speaking up for her rights to wear what she wants in Qatar?

Also why I'd never want them banning, it is a little bit patronising that the Muslim men thing I'll try and shag their wife or daughter if I actually see their faces.
I went to Qatar a good few years ago (2007)and my Girlfriend at the time was wearing a vest top. Walking down the road we got loads of beeps from cars. one man even yelled something at us. Shit myself.

Yeah my wife came home crying the other day as a lady made her driver stop so she could call her a whore and to get back to her own country as she was showing a bit of elbow whilst walking our dog.

I gave her a good hiding to make sure she doesn't do it again.

Acting 'white' LOL. So I guess all Muslim women should be wearing a hijab otherwise they're just acting 'white'.

Not sure a ban should really be a necessity or would be useful, however people who wear a garment that makes you look radically different from the norm (based on the cultures and/or history of a specific country) shouldn't be too surprised if people find this uncomfortable or unusual.

It's probably more ridiculous to expect the majority of people to accept this as quite normal, as there are many things that make us feel uncomfortable around others. We all have different preferences and tolerances, and cultural comfort together with familiarity are particularly strong ones, as these are formed from such an early age. This is primarily why we make the life choices we do.

We are often more comfortable around people who are similar to us, and who have more in common with us (be that personality, clothes style, sense of humour etc.). That's a proven fact.

Yes, we should aim to be tolerant, open-minded and all-encompassing towards all humans, irrespective of cultural differences, however it would be prudent to remember that there are many who feel they are being taken too far out of their comfort zone in accepting these differences. Dismissively tagging a person's discomfort as something racially motivated, is not only lazy, but also ruins any attempt at serious discussion.

Well observed post that, mate.

My instinct is almost always to go with whatever is the most liberal approach, through the prism of an imperfect, complicated world, and as such I'm instinctively opposed to any legislation that prevents people dressing in a certain way. I know it's a position that has some inconsistencies, but there's no simple answer to this question.

If I'm being honest, as a liberal, a burka is not a garment that I'm fully at ease with.
Maybe you’ve just not found the size that’s right for you.

Yep that sums you up.

How you can call someone bigoted for standing against an ideology that treats half the human race as unequals is fucking beyond me.

ALL women that wear a burqa are being forced to. Either by a lifetime of brainwashing and misguidance or because their pin-dick, insecure and immoral husbands are telling them to.

I respect the female form of humanity far too much to stand for this shit.
