I think too much is made by them about the need to wear it in public personally, if they have to wear one in front of a holy man or whatever they call them then fair enough but if they are serious about integrating into a different culture then they have to make the effort themselves. I also think too many UK people(especially lefties) look for a pat on the back and say what they think they are supposed to, they are usually the sort that wind me up because they are usually the kneejerkers who jump on things without thinking about it.
When I think about it properly, if you remove race from the equation and ask, would you trust someone who wants to cover their face in public so you cant see it? The answer would probably be no, some people feel the same about dark sunglasses(usually old women or just cunty types), people can be so contradictory. So yes I can see why some might feel a bit funny about it and it's probably nothing to do with race for the most part. Didn't this all start by something that happened on a French beach? If any nationality has the right to be a bit paranoid it's the French they've had a horrible year and been a target too many times so I do sympathise.
On the other hand what harm does the Burka do? Would it make it easier for a terrorist to go unnoticed or to go into hiding? Possibly but these terrorists are usually hiding in plain sight anyway the Burka isn't really going to change anything in fact probably draw more attention if anything.
