Morgan Gibbs-White

You don't know that. All of us can spot the obvious stars like Haaland and Mbappe, but guys like MGW require actual knowledge of scouting to assess their ability level.

Secondly, we don't know what the larger plan is at the moment. Maybe MGW is the optimal complementary piece for our larger plan.
Where do Nunes and Phillips fit in this larger plan? Both signed from lesser clubs like Forest where those with 'actual knowledge of scouting' thought they'd work for us.

Phillips is an outlier in our recruitment over the last decade. No club has a 100 percent hit rate in recruitment, but our success rate with recruiting is extremely high.

Because he's not our level - or at least the level that we should be aiming for. He's not a game changer for us. He looks ok at Forest, who have had an excellent season, but that in large part to a purple patch by their striker and them being miserly at the back. He's also a massive **** on the pitch which we don't need.
What makes him a massive ****?

It hasn't been the last few seasons. Coincidentally when we started shopping at mid table prem clubs
What are you suggesting? We don't shop at clubs beneath us in the league table? In my opinion this league is so deep now you have to figure there is talent from smaller clubs in England that can make the jump and help us a win trophies.

Yes. We need quality and shouldn't be shopping at teams for players in England with no CL experience.

Tenacious type of player and mobile. Would propel himself into the England squad as a regular if he signed.

Hopefully our management has learned the Grealish lesson ( 100m transfer fee + 300K weekly wages )

Maximum of 50m Transfer fee + 120K weekly wages will be acceptable

He is happy with less than 80k with his current team, why double or triple his wages to convince him to join City !

We got Nico Gonzalez as our Philips replacement so now we have to get our Grealish one in this guy

We are obviously going to sign him. It’s Phillips and Nunes all over again.
Pissing money away.

Everyone can see he isn’t worth anywhere near £100m and isn’t someone we should be buying. He’s a Spurs signing.

Trebling or even doubling his wages, why? He plays for Forest for fuck sake. He should come on what they are paying him.

Not saying he’s rubbish but he’s not going to massively improve us.

Bit of a mad thing to say, Mahrez must have been a mistake, same with Sterling, Barry, Stones - even Walker didn’t make his UCL debut until he was 26, the season after he signed for us.
Not really. Mahrez won the league and played in the CL for Leicester. Not to mention he won the player of the year.

Sterling and Stones were both young when they signed 21-22. Signing youngsters who are a decent punt are fine for the squad. Someone who is 25+ and hasn't done anything in their career is much different. We need quality as that has clearly been lacking this season. Appreciate the dig at Liverpool though.

Walker had years of experience both in Europe and internationally.

Barry was signed at a time where we wanted to establish ourselves in both the league and CL. He was a great servant for the club but was nowhere near good enough for a team with aspirations to win for the CL.

Could be argued a main reason our season has pivoted back in a decent direction is a 19 year old kid with no CL experience? Lots of our CL experienced lads have been really poor this season.
Taking a punt on a kid is fine. If they want to add a few to the squad great. But that needs to be along with proper quality. Signing a bunch of kids and players without any top level experience is asking for trouble.

I respect the footall opinion blue, even if I dont agree with it. Just seems like way too many are damning this lad without seeing him kick a ball for us. Personally, I think we are gagging for this kind of energy in the midfield. Time will tell.
