Morgan Gibbs-White

Are you surprised that on a forum of city fans taking about city's transfer plans that my thought is not one thats been discussed with pep?

Of the top 10 FIFA footballing nations he's signed: Brazilian, Argentinian, Dutch, Belgian, Spanish, English, French, Portuguese and Croatians. That's 9 countries. What's the one he's missing.
Is it Uruguay can’t see Uruguay there does he not like Uruguay, this is a silly argument too silly for me.

He's never signed an Italian in 20 years of management. You telling me that's just how it goes? He signed Caceres he's Uruguayan.

Well it's fact, I didn't say he doesn't sign Italians because he doesn't like them, you assumed that. I simply said he doesn't sign Italians.
You said we wont sign Cambiaso because he doesn’t sign Italians like it’s some sort of policy he has, suggests to me you think he has something against them.

Are we? All I hear is rumour from the Italian press quoting ridiculous prices. I am not convinced our interest in him is real.

He was all but signed in January, but Juventus wanted £60m in the end.

By all accounts in Italy, the reason his form has dropped off so much in the second half of the season is because his agent told him that the deal was done, get packed for Manchester. Juve dug in and rejected City's final offer of around £45-£50m

In Italy they still think it goes ahead.

I think Martin from the Mancunian Way who has a few decent contacts, I am sure he said earlier this week he has been told it will be done.

I said he doesn't sign Italians. Everything else was in your head. Let's end it there.

amazing - can't find a single Italian who he's bought in his entire career - lengthens the odds on Cambiaso for sure!

Comparatively few Italians move abroad, and he's never managed in Italy. Doesn't seem massively odd to me
You don't think that he's managed the biggest and best clubs in three different countries over 20 years and signed almost every nationality in the top 15 footballing countries and never once signed an Italian odd? You're probably right. Just coincidence I imagine.

Just going off a quick Transfermarkt scan, Bayern have had four Italian players in their entire history. Barcelona have had five. City have had four too

Again, doesn't seem odd to me

And Pep definitely tried to sign Jorginho

That's fair. When he signs one I promise to never say again "Pep doesn't sign Italians". Until then, it remains a fact.

Italian vs Belgian players in:

- Premier league: 9 vs 10
- Bundesliga: 3 vs 11
- Laliga: 1 vs 6

I chose Belgium because it’s my home country and because it’s about 6x smaller than Italy.

We tried very hard to sign Jorginho untill we were gazumped by Chelsea..
We were also seriously rumoured to be after one of the Juventus centre backs.
I'm certain Pep would sign an Italian if he fitted the profile.

Italians famously don’t leave Italy. Especially when Italian football was the best in the world, then there was a drop off as the premier league got serious money.

Who remembers the Pep is a racist narrative because he hasn’t signed many black players. I could name several but it became a big thing around the time Eto publicised their fall outs.

Anyway, let’s talk about how Gibbs-White isn’t good enough for us. Or Aina.

I think it will a disaster signing personally, and I think we are going to end up paying around £80m for him and he just won't be able to deal with it.

Very few players who have never played CL football who go for £75m+ go on to prove their worth.

I will never ever get my head around us selling Cole Palmer for 40m quid and bringing in Morgan Gibbs White for over double that amount.

The only way I will be satisfied is if we replace Kevin De Bruyne with genuine star quality. With a player that has top level ability and great pedigree.

Going from Kevin De Bruyne to Morgan Gibbs White would have been like us going from Sergio Aguero to Dominic Solanke.

The club need to wake up.
Cool

People keep talking about the fee being high but I wouldn’t be surprised if they are the team taking Grealish from us. Because of the wages they won’t want to pay a high fee, so they won’t. But because of PSR they have to be separate deals. Although Grealish will leave for a low fee his real value because of the high wages is almost double and will be completely off our books.

So MGW in for approx 100m & Grealish out for 20m cost us 50m plus MGW wages which will not be super high. Say we double his current wage the transfer will cost us 60m with Jack going the other way.
