People are getting mixed up a bit I think on some of our kids already being part of the full squad officiallyI think this question on whether he is "mediocre" misses the point a bit.
Forgive me if incorrect as I always find this confusing, but we have certain squad places reserved for domestic English players. And if we don't have enough, we can't fill those in with foreign players.
We are likely losing Walker, Grealish, Stones seems increasingly fragile.
So, the question really is, is MGW the best ENGLISH player to add to our squad. Not whether he is as good as some hypothetical Spanish or German player.
And it does seem like he is a decent enough player. Which other ENGLISH player would you have?
I really like Adam Wharton, but it feels like defensive midfield is pretty crowded, so....
Definitely need someone who can pass the ball.Tijjani has pace plays where gundo did and scores goals
Nico is comfortable playing more advance and again in the gundo/kova role, he also has an eye for goal when more advenced.
Oreilly is a inside left or central attacking midfileder who can drift wide or tuck in
Marmoush is a striker or can drop behind a target man into attacking midfiled from left or central
Add Foden back on form
We buy Tijjani and have tge 3 other options we don't need gibbs-white who is the same type of midfielder as Rejinders and Nico, we need one who can split passes, open up defences and create openings for haalalnd.
If we buy him he is automatically 4th/5th choice starter for me as all above are better imho
He’s started to look good playing with Bernie. If Nunes overlaps Bernie drops back and he’s constantly pushing Nunes to do more going forward.Nunes should stay. Will be good in front of a decent right back
Thanks - very helpful list that.People are getting mixed up a bit I think on some of our kids already being part of the full squad officially
Bobb, Rico, Orielly are not listed in our 25 man squad list but our under 21 list so if we fully.move them up they will cover 3 of the home grown requirements that grealish, stones and walker take up as all 3 will have passed the freshhold age wise, add promoting Spike to 2nd choice keeper

Don’t get your point, people said something positive about Phillips, so we should never sign again. All this was said about Phillips.
wpuld.love.us go for wharton, he wpuld.compliment rodri aand nico wel landalso free eother up to play box to box and higher up at times, if we go for any English midfielder I would prefer him tbhThanks - very helpful list that.
Still, does point out that we are losing a clutch of the main English squad members - even Ake and Carson potentially.
The other question is whether we are simply going to lose Mcatee and replace him with MGW
Which again might make sense in terms of positions, just something that makes you queasy after the Palmer transfer as Mcatee could become a very good player.
Still feel we should also grab Wharton, in any case, as that's the kind of English player that's really rare.

CostaSome on the under 21 list will have to move into the main squad list next season though, such as Bobb, Khusanov etc. We also have the likes of Walker, Phillips, Bah and Doyle returning from loans.
It's also tougher with the CL squad rules, which meant Reis and Echeverri couldn't be registered at all this season.
If you look at players that are on our books that would be expecting some game time if they stayed, you would have something like:
Ederson
Ortega
Carson
Akanji
Ake
Stones
Dias
Gvardiol
Reis
Khusanov
Bah
Lewis
O'Reilly
Nunes
Rodri
Bernardo
Kovacic
Gundogan
Gonzalez
Foden
Savinho
Doku
Marmoush
Bobb
Grealish
Haaland
Walker
Phillips
Doyle
Plus let's say 4 new signings before any departures. I haven't included KdB for obvious reason.
By my reckoning that would be 33 players (sorry if I have missed any) and Guardiola has said he wants a smaller squad. Obviously some of those aren't going to play a part next season but they are still under contract and we need to find clubs for them.
So we would need at least 10 players to leave either on loan or to be sold. That will take quite some doing and trying to balance the squads to match PL and CL (if we qualify) quotas could be problematic, especially as a number that we would perhaps expect to exit are HG.
It's a good job that we have 2 DOFs this Summer!
Grealish, Walker, Phillips & Callum Doyle are all gone so that's 4 off your list for starters. Foden, Bobb, O'Reilly & Lewis will be club trained for CL purposes. Stones, Ake, Grealish & Carson are the current HG players and all 4 could be gone this summer. Hence the interest in the likes of MGW.Some on the under 21 list will have to move into the main squad list next season though, such as Bobb, Khusanov etc. We also have the likes of Walker, Phillips, Bah and Doyle returning from loans.

At the minute the choices aren't outstanding either. The better option first and foremost is to use our Academy more when it comes to supplimenting the squad with English players rather than buy what is out in the market.I think this question on whether he is "mediocre" misses the point a bit.
Forgive me if incorrect as I always find this confusing, but we have certain squad places reserved for domestic English players. And if we don't have enough, we can't fill those in with foreign players.

Wonder what happens if Forest get Champions league
Does he stay? If he doesn't his value shoots up about £20mil (if not more) on what I imagine is gonna be a VERY expensive signing (£80m? £100m?)
I still don't think he's good enough, think we're singing too many "good" players when we should be targeting elite ones
Other than us is anyone even interested in him?
Just worry because everytime he does something good it's usually when there is a lot of space to exploit as Forest play the polar opposite of us. When opponents haven't engaged Forest he's looked like a average midfielder.
If Pep plans to change our style to be more direct that'll help but I just can't see it, Pep default is to get MORE control and slower play
2 Brazil right backs ?Send Nunes, sell McAtee elsewhere, Buy the 2 Brazilian RBs (would say Livra but zero chance)
Vanderson & Wesley. Doubt we go for either though2 Brazil right backs ?
There is zero chance that our second choice keeper will be a teenager who hasn’t played a minute of league football.Costa

there you go 25 as per Prem rules with diogo, tiajjani, one of the other mids and 2 full backs
players removed that we should be be letting go
Has no one learned over these 10 years Peps is not always fully honest, yes he likes a small squad but he tend to utilize about 25 players a season even whenn we are at full strength
if that 25 were fit 90% of the season all would get games but he is less likely to blood the EDS unless its cups or a real talent is considered
Edit no arsed about uefa requirements before I am educated on it, if we are playing gibbs white in champions league games then we ain't winning the fucker
