We have lavender scent josh sticks, also sprinkle lavender oil around and doors and windows.

But the bastards are still biting us

Try a couple of those plug in devices where you put a tablet in them. Had them on holidays and they worked a treat.

Peppermint oil can be a game-changer! You can mix a few drops with water and spray it around doors and windows to help keep mosquitoes at bay. I had a few sleepless nights because of those pesky insects, which was incredibly frustrating. Very much so in the south at least. Not sure if it's because I spent my youth Oop north, but I don't recall these fuckers being a thing here until recently - just midges
