Most Memorable Boxing Day City Match

Stoke city 1999 losing at half time came back to win 2 1 I think. Whole ground rocking in the second half, start of a long unbeaten run which eventually saw us in the play offs. Came off feeling ridiculously optimistic for the first time since the opening day win over Blackpool.
Lou Macari was their manager and if I remember it seemed like the whole of the ground was singing "shit on Lou Macari" for most of the second half :) and as you say that game was the start of a great run.

The obvious ones for us older fans have already been mentioned. I'll go for one that wasn't memorable for the football, just for the sheer ballache of leaving home at 5-30am to drive from the Fylde Coast to Southampton for a noon KO and watch us take the lead and then lose 2-1.

Some rich twats went by plane IIRC. ;-)

Yeah I remember that
It was a crappy 737 which got tossed all over the place
My pal was on it and he was terrified
I think he got a lift home

Like me saying Stoke 87, you’re a year out. Was 98 that one. Felt like the first time in years that the players & fans connected again. Loved that game

I wasn't at the game but if it's any consolation I'm told by lads that went it was the flight from hell

Wasn't boxing day either as we beat Wrexham away boxing day 98, think Stoke was a few days after.

Sorry to be picky but the unbeaten run started on Boxing Day at Wrexham where Ged Wiekens scored from a corner. The Stoke match was two days later.

Edit: @bluesmith beat me to it

Bin to most since 1970 Huddersfield at home remember didn’t always play Boxing Day in 60s, I missed wba away back to back losses in Xmas 67 and once got hammered by Everton at home missed that aswell the obvious answer is Colins return, but the best I had for mega piss up was doing the York away (yes I was one of the 200k) on the 19th then quickly followed by Boxing Day trip to Wrexham. Set off thinking why the fuck am I doing this pissing it down again fukin freezing now looking at Div 4 as a definite possibility but it was more about good mates coach load on a mega piss up, remember loads of us asking stewards to let us out at halftime we were that shit couldn’t find a pub open so went back to ground and same stewards let us back in ffs. Good old Gerard didn’t have the decency to delay scoring his goal got back in just after.
If I remember rightly you could buy the York and Wrexham tickets together which meant didn’t have much choice in the matter plus we had booked the coach too. Which was the same deal years later got Arsenal away and Norwich at end of season left thinking why the fuck am I going all the way to Norwich to watch these bottlers lol.....
Both seasons ending up in the best endings in our history
