Most Memorable Boxing Day City Match

Yes that game and the reception when Colin came on was probably my most memorable one but also enjoyed the 1985 game when we beat the dippers 1-0 with a Clive Wilson goal.

1977 v Newcastle we won 4-0 and I Certain Mr Mr Bell came on in the Second Half
The place exploded and I recall he nearly scored at the North Stand
I was off my seat as I thought it was in ,only an inch or so above the bar
Stoke city 1999 losing at half time came back to win 2 1 I think. Whole ground rocking in the second half, start of a long unbeaten run which eventually saw us in the play offs. Came off feeling ridiculously optimistic for the first time since the opening day win over Blackpool.

The obvious ones for us older fans have already been mentioned. I'll go for one that wasn't memorable for the football, just for the sheer ballache of leaving home at 5-30am to drive from the Fylde Coast to Southampton for a noon KO and watch us take the lead and then lose 2-1.

Some rich twats went by plane IIRC. ;-)

First 3 mentioned won't be beaten.

Newcastle....Maine Rd at its best with 4 second half goals on the back of King Colin's return.

Fancy dress at Stoke, massive following its was packed in the paddock with all those bananas taking up space and crazy fancy dress, shame the team let us down.

Clive Wilson's left back masterclass v the dips....still amazed we won that game, seemed like one of our defeats these days....how did that happen.

Winner has to be Newcastle.
