Most momentous International event in your lifetime?

Loads of World events that have directly impacted my life. Too many momentous events have happened in my lifetime. Falklands conflict is probably my first memory of things happening outside of the UK.

Of note, End of the Vietnam war, that scruffy twat from the Beatles getting shot, Chernobyl, Tienanmen Square massacre, fall of the Berlin wall, US failed invasion of Grenada, Russians getting kicked out of Afghanistan, Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Balkans conflict, WMD, 9-11...

A significant 10 events I recall:

9-11
Falklands War
Ukraine War
Arena bombing
Various IRA atrocities
Princess Diana death
The Queen death
Miners’ strike 84-85
Yorkshire Ripper
Iranian Embassy siege - SAS storming through the windows.

Bit too young for the Cuban missile crisis. However, in no particular order....

Moon landing.
Berlin Wall.
Princess Di (not sure about "international")
Elvis dying
John Lennon shot dead
Ceaucescu being overthrown
Mandela being freed and apartheid crumbling
Protests in Beijing (ultimately unsuccessful, but momentous)
9/11
The fall of the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot
The Columbia space shuttle disaster

That'll do for starters.

Easily 9/11. Changed the world we live in so dramatically and one of those moments where no one ever forgets where they were.

I'm so surprised no one has mentioned the dramatic event much closer to our homes that changed our local landscape. The bombing of the Mcr Arndale centre. I recall placing my ITV 7 on that Saturday morning and being in a local bookies when that bomb went off. Though I was about a couple of miles away the sound of the blast always remained with me.
I was at work in Manchester when the IRA bombed it the first time, using 2 bombs.
The first explosion was muffled so I didn't even realise that it was a bomb.
I certainly knew the second one was a bomb though!

Moon landing (I was too young to remember it, but apparently I was in our living room in Moss Side watching)
Berlin Wall
9/11
These things all changed the world, one way or another. Most of the others mentioned on here were simply events. Big events for sure, but life went on unaffected.

For me in Ireland

1. Italia 90
2. The Good Friday agreement
3. The pope's visit
Agree with No.1
I was behind the goal for the penalty shootout with Romania.
There were some scenes there that day after O’Learys scored.

The Pope’s visit was huge but can’t help feel that in hindsight the country was under mass hypnosis.
Never happened second time around.
