Most Overrated Player to Play for City

Keith Macrae. Pardon if spelling is incorrect. A classic Malcom expensive signing, to replace Corrigan who was too fat, according to our coach. Trouble was, he was shit and a slimmed down Joe soon replaced him.
I’m pretty sure he was a Johnny Hart signing.....think he was also a journalist

All I can remember of him was he wore black shorts & socks causing a bollocking for the club, was ginger and had his one good game at Sheffield United after we had a minor coach crash and Corrigan couldn't play because of it.
Yeah, that's it. What a star.

De Jong had some wonderful MOTM performances against Arsenal and Chelsea. He was a very important signing. I can’t agree with that one.

A big part of his game was lacking.

Yes he had some MOTM performances, but he was talked up as some sort of impenetrable midfield maestro.

I thought he was about average, with elements of his game I actively disliked. In my opinion, because of his full throttle level of dedication, fans loved him and overrated him massively.

Trevor Francis. Thought he was too good for us and the team was all about him.
I still reckon he was the best player I ever say in a City shirt. He was on a different level to any other player we had at that time.

This should be VERY interesting!
Ha. Believe it or not, I'm not wumming with this.

I think we all got caught up in the Kinky worship back in the day. Probably due to a combination of us being utter shite at the time, with Gio looking like peak Pele compared to those around him, as well as him being a highlight reel kind of player (Southampton and Newcastle are the obvious examples). Unfortunately, those highlight moments were far too few.

I've always said that if we'd snagged Ali B when he was 5/6 years younger, we'd now be talking about him in the same glowing terms as Merlin.

You’re doing De Jong a disservice. He was far better than average. He was a new signing under the Sheikh Mansour era and a vital one too. These kind of midfielders are unsung heroes.

I know so many Blues who loved him. I’ve never heard this level of criticism before.

I'm actually with you on this. There's a thread going about players who you wish had stayed longer; I named Bernarbia. But there's a hell of a lot on here who will strongly disagree with you about Kinky.

Kinky was a disgrace in training by all accounts. The instruction on match day seemed to give him the ball and let him create something.

A flawed genius?

Just read your post on the other thread. Spot on.

Unfortunately, we would have had absolutely no chance of signing a peak Ali, but we can dream!
