Hers is a remarkable story, mate. Laika is a hero.

I just thought she was being turned into copper or whatever in that machine. Didn't realise it was the space doggy. Still don't like dogs, though.

I'm not their biggest fan either but Laika is well worthy of reverence.

Wow this thread is amazing if slightly depressing. It puts into perspective how evil and messed up the human race is.

The Kevin Carter one is particularly disturbing and makes me think this photo because Richey Edwards had an obsession with him.
I don't know if you lot will agree it's a good choice for this thread but i always thought it was quite iconic and it always gives me the chills.

How can anyone do something so horrible to themselves.
I feel sorry for the poor guy he must have been in a real bad place in his head to do something like this.
And his uncertain fate makes this much worse, his poor family and friends not knowing what happened to him. I don't know whether to think he's a selfish bastard or a tragic figure who i should feel sympathy for.
I bet those who thought it was a publicity stunt felt bad about it when he went missing!

He did it because Steve Lamacq had questioned whether the Manics were "For Real" or not. Imagine how bad he felt as Richey stood talking to him whilst slowly carving "4 Real" in his arm with a razor blade.

Lamacq later said it was if he was writing it in crayon and he didn't flinch one bit while doing it to himself.

I'm not a Manics fan but I find Edwards' story intriguing. Messed up lives always make good copy unfortunately.

FACT: whilst american companies made huge profits from selling these evil chemicals to the military.....their product....although can skip a generation....leaves victims disfigured.....and their future generations.

i just hope that they(US) as humans can live with that on their conscience

sick fucks!!!!!

and you're ignorant for generalising a whole nation! congrats! ..tawt.

if i had generalised....it would have said ALL AMERICANS...but it doesnt!!!!
...so i think that only applies to all those who are guilty within the american army and establishment. what is a tawt????

this wasn t an anti american post mate,i do love most americans!!!
what happened here is SICK and american people made MONEY from it too!
you can die for your nation ,but god doesn t see any nations....therefore you can die for god instead(if you are a believer!?)

now you claim my honesty is ignorance, when you cant read and jump to paranoid "over defensive" conclusions..... now if i made a bad call...i would honestly apologise!!! for me,repect for other always goes before PRIDE!!!

mind you i m prone to a few slagging matches...for a laugh

The plane was named after Enola Gay Tibbetts the mother of the pilot Paul Tibbetts who is seen in the photo. he isn't actually waving to the photogrpahers in the photo he is gesturing for them to move out of the way.
