Mother of disabled Child told to pay for seasoncard

Ungrateful to say the least.
The Mam couldn't wait to run to the papers with this 'story'. Did she contact the MEN when the club and players were treating her lad favourably?

A better headline would've been

Father Refuses to take Son to Footy.

It's this running to the papers that annoys me ...... why the fuck run to the papers in the first place. ....... today's "15 minutes" society is so shit ....... next she'll be on a couch on This Morning or loose women (or whatever its called) slagging City off ......when for last few years she's had a free Season ticket when her 4 year old is probably more interested in playing on her iphone or eating his hotgdog than watching the match....... she need to hang her head in shame.

Re: Carers of disabled fans told to pay for ticket to watch City

If the fan is too young to be allowed to attend the game on their own, regardless of their physical or mental faculties, then whoever attends the game with them should have to pay also. If I've got a fit and healthy 8 year old son, and he has a seasoncard, then I too will have to buy a seasoncard as he can't go on his own. The same should be true of a disabled 8 year old with a seasoncard, they would need adult supervision whether they were disabled or not, due to their age, so I don't think it's unreasonable to be expected to buy a seasoncard.

If the disabled person is only requiring supervision due to their disability (they are of an age where, ordinarily, they could attend the game on their own) then their carer shouldn't have to pay for a seasoncard, or potentially City should provide a designated carer service whereby, if required, the disabled supporter could be looked after at the game by a trained professional provided by the club (in conjunction with whatever agency they would need to provide such people).

Eh? So what is their normal carer going to do? Deliver them to the door and hang around outside to pick them up after the game? The disabled person will need care to get to/from home. It is usual for an adult disabled person & carer to be treated as a 'whole package'. If anything went wrong with anybody the club supplies, even through an agency, I'm sure that they would be open to litigation. In some cases it's important to have a continuity of care, especially if the person is mentally disabled.

All things considered the club now have the policy roughly right, i.e. ALL U14's to be accompanied by a paying adult.

However, I do have an exception to this rule. If the disabled child is accompanied by their registered carer then the carer goes free if a paying parent and more U14 children from the same family attend. (The club should allocate seats in the same block as it's not really feasible to have 3 people next to a wheelchair). This exception is because in this case 1 adult cannot look after the disabled child and another child as well.

I remember her, she's been going to City all her life. I guess she used to pay before she had kids.

im the father of a 10 year old girl who has cerebral palsy.

whenever weve come across anything similar we tend to find that many new things are put in place to stop the scammers, course its a shock at first until you know the ins and outs, and any genuine case will not be affected,
sadly there are people out there who think they can do want they want,be it benefit cheat, even disabled parking.the only way to stop people taking liberties is to make people actually show they have an issue, its not ideal, however if it stops the cheats then its better for everyone in the long run.
i hope this this is the case and im pretty sure the press have twisted it to make it into a headline, city seem to care about their fans.

Certainly as an adult Registerd Person I have to show the Club that I am actually on the Full/Top Rate of DLA.I have to give them a copy of my letter from the DWP,which they then scan for their own records.
However they do have an open ended policy for their carers and you do not have to nominate a name. The ST Card is in my name with the words "Carer".

Regardless of whether it is right or wrong that an adult carer should pay, it's just another example of the club and football squeezing every last penny out of gullible, spineless sods that call themselves football fans.

We're talking £305 here ffs, what's that? an hour's pay for Yaya when he's sat on the bog? Lets just say City all of a sudden said that ALL carers had to pay which i wouldn't put it past them. Say we have 200 carers and they wanted £300 off each one to continue. We're talking an extra £60,000. Sixty Grand!

It's the reason why Norwich was my last game at the ground and why the renewal pack is in the bin. £60 increase on average, that's £2.16m extra they have raised.

'We could charge more than £104. Let's say we charged £300. We'd get £2m more in income but what's £2m to us? 'In a transfer discussion you argue about that sum for five minutes. But the difference between £104 and £300 is huge for the fan. 'We do not think the fans are like cows, who you milk. Football has got to be for everybody. 'That's the biggest difference between us and England.'

Well said, Uli Hoeness, well said!

Don't mean anything bad by it, but why shouldn't a carer have to pay?

They don't pay because in the event of a bomb/fire/stadium collapse, it is the carer's responsibility to get the disabled person out, not the club's.
