Ungrateful to say the least.
The Mam couldn't wait to run to the papers with this 'story'. Did she contact the MEN when the club and players were treating her lad favourably?

A better headline would've been

Father Refuses to take Son to Footy.

Do you remember the knob that went running to the MEN when he had a broken leg and City "refused" him entry via the Players Tunnel ?? My how he got slaughterd on here and rightly so.
This lady possibly doesn`t understand that the age for getting into a match by yourself is 14 years of age, irrespective of your health.

I do oakie.
Always someone else's fault..

Not a chance at 14, let alone 12 that I'd let my lad go to a match on his own! 16 yes, but not 12. It's a crazy world we live in & to be honest I was surprised to read that the club policy was so low.

Why what is going to happen to him?

He's currently 9 but at 12 he's still a child! As for what could or would happen.... We don't know, that's the point. If you're happy to let your 12 year old get a bus, tram to town on their own then so be it, nothing to do with me, but not a chance I would thats all I'm saying. There is a reason kids under 16 get snatched or attacked, they're easy targets & I just wouldn't feel comfy letting him go that young. It's different from when we were kids.

Mines 10 so he will be getting a bus and taking himself high school next year. Probably more chance of him getting snatched going to school than going a match.
If he can be trusted to do that it's only fair that I let him do other stuff with his mates. eg cinema, bowling but not footy because city won't let him in.
Exactly like I did when I was a his age which was only 20 years ago, I don't think there has been any increase in kidnappings in that time.

This is a non-story and the club are right on this in my opinion. Why should a 4-yr old with problems be treated any differently to a healthy 4-yr old? Both need someone with them and the parent or whoever takes them should pay. As has been said, the father already goes so basically she wants three tickets for the price of one.

I'm pretty sure that if a disabled adult goes and genuinely needs a carer then they will be accomodated by the club. The Disabled Supporters Association doesn't seem to be getting wound up about this and I would assume they were consulted.

How can this ever be right.

I won't be renewing my season ticket this year. The way the treated Mancini. and that message in the program is more about keeping the fans onside than any genuine thanks to Roberto. PR nightmare, no they just don't care what the fans think. It's money now..That all.

See yer.

I agree with PB on this.

I've also renewed.

Obviously just different parenting styles. They can't smoke until 16, have sex until 16... These things are in place for a reason. Like I say obviously different beliefs & parenting styles. You would, I wouldn't.

This will probably be the same at other places too.

It used to be that people in wheelchairs got in free, but they changed that as it made disabled people look like some kind of charity case. So to avoid that, the disabled person paid, and the carer went free.

Now, I suppose it's a case of places (and it won't just be City) saying, why should anyone get in free? I'm not sure of this person's personal circumstances but there are plenty of wealthy disabled people. They can afford to go more than, say, the unemployed, or a pensioner who has worked all their lives but is skint.

Not condoning this, just making that point. I neither agree nor disagree. It's like armed forces. They get well paid, why should they get free tickets sometimes? Because of their job? Most armed forced personnel aren't on the front line. What about nurses or brain surgeons? where does it all end?

If you can pay, you should pay. If there's a case for some kind of concession, then it should be taken into consideration.

Unfortunately, someone's disability here is the shock factor in the story and someone with a disability getting a raw deal is always good for the press to seize onto.

Aah, Franny, your common sense will get you nowhere on this forum!

Exactly this.

This is catch 22 If someone is disabled where it means they need someone to look after their needs it is a bit unfair to make it so they both have to pay in that sense it's bordering on discrimination, as if they didn't have the disability they wouldn't need the help.

BUT that then leads to issues where is the line drawn. My 7 year old son has a mental health condition which is controlled with medication he is legally classed disabled I do have to keep a close eye on him when we are at matches but overall it's easy enough we've even gone to Wembley watching City. That said he even managed to be mascot this season (proudest moment of my life) and loved his club spoiling him.

It becomes complicated judging on a case by case basis but the starting point should be if someone gets high rate care and high rate mobility DLA their carer should either be free or a vastly reduced rate that would work for both adult and child. And on that basis my lad wouldn't be entitled he does get high rate care but is low rate mobility.
