Motorcycling Blues

It's a rocker c, as he insists on telling me every fucking 5 minutes, despite me showing next to no interest.
Some sort of special edition.
I think it's a softail (ie I think it has some sort of rudimentary rear suspension, probably borrowed off a tractor) apart from that I know nowt
Lol, I almost bought a new softail in 86.
Ended up with the Suzuki. The Harley would have held its value through.

The harley pictured was off the road for the best part of last year. Wouldn't run properly kept going into limp mode.
We tried everything, but in the end it had to have a new ecu.
Common fault on this era of harleys.
1200 quid to replace.
Many horror stories out there.
Harleys are lovely bikes, but the build is suspect, just because they slather everything in chrome, doesn't make them good.
Buy the earliest you can afford, you're quite right, that 86 would be putting you in good profit now.

When I bought the Suzuki, the Harley 883 sportster was $1000.00 Cdn more ($6,000) but if you upgraded after one year to a softail they would give you the entire $6,000 back for the trade in.
I hated the sportster but in hindsight, I should have done it for the investment alone
I probably would have upgraded again in 1990 for the Fatboy anyway.

Hindsight eh? It's a strange thing. I've bought and sold a few bikes over the years, but I never set out to make a profit, as I had a job to take care of that. Bikes were for pleasure.
Now I'm aware of future values I'm keeping my rd350 and gpz 900 as the return when I reluctantly sell will piss all over any normal investments.
I'm currently looking for an early street triple r, there no money at the moment, but in a few years they will be sought after, as they were a limited run. 4k gets you in, in 5 years that's 10k I reckon, maybe more. And you get to ride it and enjoy.

If you like old bikes, you may like some of these, they’ve all got some kind of history to them (sorry, the proper term escapes me atm) .
Not mine (girlfriends Mams other half) and there’s a few others around.
