Appointing Pellegrini instead of Mourinho would be like signing Demba Ba instead of Messi, regardless of whether Pellegrini suits the DoF model more. His style of football would be more entertaining than Mancini's but I can't see any real upgrade except slight improvement in Europe, and there's no real telling if he'd be able to match Mancini's Premier League win %.

yeah I'd love to have a CL campaign where we try and sneak through on the Away goals rule all the time.

Not to mention that he hasn't managed to turn either Villarreal or Malaga into solidly the 3rd best team in Spain with little competition and not an insignificant talent pool and investment each time.

He has Malaga in the last 16 after they had to sell their best player (Cazorla) and star striker (Rondon), and had no money to spend (owner stopped putting money in), so resorted to taking Santa Cruz (our 1000th choice striker) on loan from us for a little depth. Pellegrini has done well at Malaga and did well enough at Villarreal to make Real Madrid snatch him (where he had a fantastic win % but finished behind Barca who got something like 99pts). The year Villarreal finished above Barca they made a profit in the transfer market, so spent less than they made to finish above a famous club. He's a very good manager, I'm just worried he wouldn't improve us much except slightly in Europe.

PS: A CL campaign where we snuck through on away goals would be better than a CL campaign where we couldn't win a single match and allowed a not that great Ajax side to take 4pts from us.

And to think someone in their wisdom decreed that the Mourinho thread had run its course last week.

Like bluemoon's very own soap opera this, fucking hell ;-)

To quote a deceased blue hero, "where will it end? Where will it end?"

There was a big gamble on him couple of weeks ago about coming here
33/1-6/4

Now he's back on the drift out to 14/1

Most probably due to the leak in the Chilean press.

If it had come out of England, Italy, even Spain, would treat with plenty of suspicion.

But someone let the cat out of the bag back in South America and have absolutely no reason to think it did not have some semblance of truth about him accepting an offer in principle.

He certainly wasn't happy when someone brought it up at his next presser.

Pellegrini's people have been quite vocal since January about approaches, most notably from Roma.

How ironic if Mancini ends up at Roma.

Is he really an upgrade from bobby tolm?

-- Thu Mar 07, 2013 6:00 pm --

that was a year when Barca only got 67 pts.

He only took Real to the Last 16 despite being bought Ronaldo and Kaka amongst others and only beat FC Zurich and Marseille, failing to beat either Lyon or AC Milan. This season Atletico have shown Malaga how it's done, and Malaga have still been caught by Valencia who were shite for most of the season. Their CL Group wasn't the toughest(though if Pellegrini has 1 speciality it's Group Stages) but it wasn't exactly a group of the calibre we've had to face in the past 2 seasons.

And all there is to his name is an Intertoto Cup.

Seriously underwhelmed at the thought of Pellegrini turning up in place of Mancini.

Bobby is a very good manager and the only point in replacing him would be to install an exceptional manager.
