Mourhino is on his way to City.....

I will always defend Jose's talents as a manager, and I understand those who feel he may have been on a WUM.

But for me, the lickspittle apologist and downright deference towards Fergascum and that club left a nasty taste on a glorious night for me.

There are better ways for Jose to show he can tow the line, be a respectful coach and all that.

He was shaking hands for fuck sake with some of the fans as he trudged off.

Not cool.

Maybe some of you are right and his comments were an interview, but maybe not for the job you think. Maybe he was showing a certain D.O.F.and C.E.O. that he can be repectful of oponents and humble in victory, a requirement put in place by the mentioned two for a job not too far way.
Maybe!!!

Bullseye. Speaking as someone who would like to see Mourinho here in the summer, I was hugely encouraged by his comments last night. Dignity and humility in victory, exactly the type of qualities some people at City may feel he lacks.

Clarkie?

Mock dignity and humility... self-serving and at the expense of his club and players. Humiliating and undignified.

Dignified in victory and remained both humble and also respectful (too much I agree).

People are twisting this to suit, you can view it as he wanted job and you can view it as a backhanded compliment that's both a kick up the are to his team for future fixtures and also an honest comment in regards to his team being the inferior prior to sending off.

Anyway, rather than be more interested in Mourinho I am basking in the glory of seeing United get hurt again just like last season when they thought it was won. Hopefully they implode and let us back in, doubtful but you never know.

-- Wed Mar 06, 2013 10:15 am --

Yes

fuck off mourinho...pimping yourself to the rags.

if he comes anywhere near our club i will not be happy.

But you'd like Suarez here who most neutral fans call a disgrace to football with his actions. Handball in the WC and bragging, diver, racist and stamps on players. Still one hell of a player though.

Not from me.
Tolmie is correct though, as much as I think he would do a great job here, last night did leave a nasty taste.

Because he was rejected in 2009
Are you willing/able to go into more detail about it?

This is what I said earlier in the thread and I also wrote about this a couple of years ago on BM:

Gary James said:
I'm certain he wants to manage Utd. I was told quite clearly early in 2010 that City could have had him as manager in 2009 but his comments proved it would be a stepping stone (City chose Mancini and rejected Mourinho partly because of this) - best to stay away from him and let him get on with his own career plan.

All came out of interviews I did with various senior officials at the time - we talked about all the managers considered at time of Mancini appointment and it came out loud and clear. Mancini was the man who had a vision and wanted to be here because he could achieve something here - he had a long term vision. Others (and I've got this on tape but obviously it's from City's perspective not from any potential manager so may of course be total rubblish) did not see City as an opportunity in the same way - more a stepping stone to their real ambition. Understandably any team wants a manager who wants that job above all others and commits longer term.

EDIT: We specifically discussed Mourinho in Jan 2010. The interviews were with very senior MCFC officials. I did talk about this on BM in a thread when people were claiming Mourinho was coming some time ago. It was all going to appear in my book "The Journey" (which may never appear now sadly). This is part of a quote that was going in: "There had also been discussions with other prominent managers. One wanted to take more of a football director role while another wanted an extravagant salary and gave the impression he would only be here for a short period. We didn’t want either of those situations. We wanted someone who would commit and who would be a true coach, manager, call it what you will.”
Cheers for that Gary. Why is it looking like The Journey will never appear? Worst comes to worst and you can't get a publisher, couldn't you self-publish as an eBook on Amazon like David Mooney did with Typical City?

I like him and find him funny and a great coach but watching him sell himself to united last night was laughable. In Mancini we trust

Keeping his options open!

His preferences imho.
1)United
2)City
3)Chelsea
4)PSG

He's a friend of Slurgie, respects him and probably grew up watching him as a younger man as somewhat of a role model. He just beat his 'pals' team due what many state as a dodgy red card, by being the way he was last night he will garner positive press rather than negative and that stands him in good stead for next job. The press have re-written last nights game. They miss out the wrongly disallowed goal by Madrid that would have seen them go 1-0 up. They don't show Nani almost pushing his leg into the armpit of Arbeloa. Jose like myself and most predicted the press would descend into meltdown and a state of mourning. He said 'the best team won' which placates them somewhat.

I actually think he's keen to open as many doors as possible and if it's a straoght choice between us and them he will choose them. However, Bobby Charlton is an ambassador as we all know, he speaks to Fergie multiple times a week. He clearly stated Jose wasn't the man for them, surely he has foundations to base that opinion on and is sure the club don't want him hence the comments.

I dunno, I just think many are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. Years back Mancini was hanging on the nuts of Carlo and Chelsea, saying they were a great team and the best etc. I never saw that as a ploy for a job...
