Mourinho or Mancini

We've also reigned in our spending by quite a bit under Mancini.

Average £41m a window under RM, £80m a window under his predecessor.

Marca apparently publishing excerpts of interviews confirming the "him or us" conversations took place.

That's going to get very messy. Interesting times ahead. Looks he is inevitably going to go. Who do you reckon they will replace him with? Would be funny if they came sniffing after Mancini! (I know they won't but would be funny all the same)

Well, that's exactly what Mancini did to Hughes's team
Think it more a dig at the misnomer "look what Mourinho did with Mancini's squad, he won the Champion's League".

All managers are chequebook managers.

I don't like the term "chequebook manager", but I take your point, strongbow.

Overall, the managers who spend the most get the best results. Both Mancini and Mourinho have had plenty to spend through most of their careers, especially over the last few years.

No manager gets every buy right. The key is to get a good proportion right.

Not sure why they would, but I reckon Benitez could go there next summer. Big question for me is how long they can go without Jose walking out or being sacked. Just hope they've sorted themselves out by the rag games, even if it's a temporary truce.

Part of me hopes they do and batter the RAGs, part of me thinks the Chumps League maybe a good distraction for them - May help us in the league as they will have more games to play

i desperately want united to go all the way to the final then lose it comprehensively, because of the distraction. Same in the FA Cup where we can beat them in the final. I'd like them to have every replay and extra time available to them too.

I would think the same except the closer they get to finals of competitions the bigger the chance they might actually win one of them.

Also the more champions league games they play, the smaller our share of the TV market pool which could be significant come FFP time.
