Mourinho or Mancini

Right man, right time for a variety of reasons.

His qualities of motivation and tactical nous are what our current team are crying out for.

We need, as a club, to get a bit of the roller coaster about us again.

What concerns me Tolm, is we are probably paying the 2 from Barcelona shit loads, I presume our guys at the top thought Pep would be coming, so what is their role now

I think those guys would have established very quickly what Pep's intentions were.

They are paid less than Cook was, combined!

If they have to align themselves to the nearest sure thing in football, to fulfil their remit, they won't hesitate.

It's the hope that kills you!

What on earth makes you think that? It was pure speculation I doubt very much they would have gone for him connection or not, they will go for a proven manager

I agree with this. Until right before it was announced that Pep was bound for Munich, I actually thought that we were highly to get Guardiola and I'd have been happy with that. However, like the 'Cabal', I've always thought Mourinho would be perfectly suited to us.

I do have a nagging doubt with Ferran and Txiki, though. I don't think they'd rule out Jose per se, but it worries me that they have a vision of how they want things to be done over the next few years and may not see the Portuguese as fitting with it.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it were someone a little less high profile than people may think. They'll want to control transfers, which will be enhanced by this kind of appointment. And the two guys Soriano/Txiki brought in at Barca followed this model (Rijkaard came just after being relegated at Sparta Rotterdam, while Guardiola had been the Barca B coach and was a surprise given that most at the time thought they'd opt for Mourinho).

I don't have a name at the moment. However, if I were going to place a sneaky tenner, maybe I'd put it on Laudrup. I notice that he's starting to get a few mentions here and there.

He's someone who was a team mate of Txiki for five years, is a fit with the Ferran/Txiki philosophy, would accept the DoF model and has now got a year under his belt in the PL. Just a guess based on what I know of them and the qualities they'd look for in a new manager, but there's a sense to it.

However, really we have to go for Mourinho, don't we? He's the man who'd have the best chance of bringing success, and surely that's what would drive our development forward to maximum effect.

I'd be okay with Laudrup especially if he brings Michu and Rangel with him

Is Laudrup experienced enough. Phil Brown had one great season with Hull, and where is he now?

I would like Mancini to come back from the dead and prove the critics wrong. If he stabilises City and we go to Wembley and finish 2nd I'd stick with him.

I don't suppose it's finishing 2nd that particularly bothers City fans, but the sight of City in disarray which is what we witnessed in the last 2 games. We have to turn this around.

The people who will decide one way or another have looked at Mourinho before and decided he wasn't for them before appointing an unknown. They are the sort of people who decide on a way ahead and appoint somebody they believe is the best person to impliment their vision.
Now I don't know if they will stick with Mancini or not, but I suspect if they do change it will not be for Mourinho and could well be somebody none of us can guess.

They decided he wasn't for Barcelona, not them, personally.

Soriano more or less said Jose had the job, until Pep came forward.

Begiristain admits he liked Jose, even stayed at his house in Portugal.

I just believe Barca are a very different animal, sustained by years of success.

Doesn't mean the shoe don't fit elsewhere.

As it is, I fear Jose will run back to Chelsea with open arms if Roman swallows his pride.

Correct Marvin. I've seen City lose enough matches over the years to be able to cope with losing another one. If we lose out on the title, we dust ourselves down and we go again next year. However, WE MUST FIGHT TO THE END. Failure to do so, and I class yesterday's performance as a failure to do so, is completely unacceptable, and the buck stops with the manager.

Not sure that JM would be the be all and end all that you are making out he would be Tolmie.

One thing we do know is that if we do replace RM its important that its someone who has the nous to ensure our targets are going to be met or at least maximises our chances to do same.

Roman mark2 is not an option for City.

I have wondered how Jose would take to the director of football model at city, although he wanted the barca job under the same management structure. It was interesting that someone on the staff leaked a supposed directive to model the club around 433: Mourinho's formation.

I hope, I pray, that the planets are aligning for mourinho to city in the summer. Our club is hugely ambitious and soriano is tasked with enormous expansion of the clubs revenues. To turn down the opportunity of the biggest name manager in world football would be an incredibly bold decision. Arguably a stupid one.

I don't think they can afford to say no should the opportunity to recruit mourinho arise.

In my support for Mancini I have derided Mourinho on here a little.

Not any more though. The time has come.

He is 16 points behind in the league and he was handed Ronaldo, Alonso, Ramos, Casillas, Benzema, Higuain on a plate.
