The question is who do we go for in 2/3 year's time when Jose walks?
What do we do in 2-3 years time when some of our top players walk/move/are sold?
We move on and replace.
This is football, not a factory where carriage clocks are given out after 50 years service!
City fans have become terrified of managerial change and obsessed with stability as a means to an end. It's a combination of our past and our obsession with united. The truth is, if we manage to recruit a world class manager and he takes us to the next level, then we do everything in our power to keep him.
The thing is about modern day city is that the future will look after itself because we are richer than god. It's all about the present now. It's all about domestic domination and European strides. Adug have invested enough to reasonably expect that in the short term. That's why I still believe mourinho to fit city's needs like a glove. And vice versa.
Football is football though, you can invest 50 billion and technically never win the Champions League, we are being too busy here thinking of this as an assembly line. It has taken Chelsea 10 years to do it, they have gone through so many managers and it just doesn't work like that, their joke treatment of management shows why it does not work because in the end an assistant who could of been employed by a poor and skint Chelsea won it for them and they have sacked him!
I'm a strong believer in investing in the future, if we had no interest in doing so why would our owners be building such a huge academy. These guys do not want to buy the best players in the world every year, they haven't come here to buy trophies, they are here to turn this club into a massive one while hanging the words Abu Dhabi underneath it. A lot of people on here need to understand we cannot just go out buying the best players for any amount of money, it makes no sense and these guys do not want to spend ridiculous amounts of money for the sake of it.
The only way to do it is to reshape the club and invest in the future which is what they are doing, the Chelsea model has zero sustainability, they have won their Champions League yes, but after this year they will still continue to rely on Abramovich splurging his cash, surely we are worth more than just buying what we want and winning whatever we want and going home.
Mourinho stands for the Chelsea model, for buying a team of good players and winning things, anyone can do that, i don't find him to be a better manager than Mancini because he's walked into clubs which have the money and sometimes they already have the players. He commands a massive salary and no wonder he turns out the trophies, although he hasn't really done it at Real Madrid and he is failing big time this year, failing behind a team which was assembled properly, through investment in the right things and giving the young ones a chance.
He is not the man for us.
