Moving Away Fans / SSL3 /2 All City Fans.

And others think it's a good idea. :-)

You've lost me.

3000 people in a space of 1500 people?

Current SSL2 away blocks, current SSL1 away blocks, and blocks 111, 110, and half of block 114. Current home blocks. How many seats does that add up to?

109, 110, 111 and half of 114 would be well over 1000 seats. Until an exact count is done on blocks 111, 110, and half of 114, we won't know if any, and how many additional seats would be needed in block 109, if any, to accommodate the away fans from SSL3. ATM it's subjective and a guestimate. Nobody has the exact seat numbers for each block. Get counting on the seat planner ! :-)
The OP is asking for all away supporters to be on Level 1, with Level’s 2 & 3 to be exclusively for City supporters, that’s the bit that’s unfeasible. If the away supporters were to remain on level 2 as well that’s a different argument entirely, although what we would gain from it I’m not sure.

Burton?

I didn't know that. Apologies.

I've always thought it was just about moving the away fans on SSL3 to blocks 111, 110, 114. (109?)

That's what I've always thought the discussion was about, and what 'I've always been discussing'.

As you say, it's impossible to move all the away fans onto SSL1 and ESL1.

What we would gain has been discussed.

My opinion for what it’s worth would be to leave the composition of the south stand as it is. I would make all of block 314 and the back dozen rows of 315,316,317 & 318 standing to try and get more noise from the whole of SSL3. Then try and populate the new north stand with potential singers.

I would also, (I know this is controversial with some people) make NSL1 standing and try and encourage singers into there as well. Having a full, stood up atmospheric section pitch-side behind the goal we shoot towards in the second half 9 times out of 10 can only be a good thing.

That would be great. There biggest problem with that is where do you move the people who are already sat in the family stand?

Ns2 should just be all safe standing

SSL3/2 - A Compromise.

1) SSL3 - Exclusive City

2) SSL2 - Away fans if they can sell it.

3) ESL 110/111 + SSL113 Away fans.

That configuration should satisfy the seat counters, not compromise segregation and not increase capex.

City then have 100% of SSL3, & 75% of SDL2 & 1 with away fans getting their allocation if the can sell it.

I thought 111, 110, and 109 were good yesterday. Better than SSL3. Mainly due to the banter with West Ham fans.

Although 115 is next to the away fans you can't see them like we can in 109/110/111. And because we can see them we have banter with them. Yesterday we sang "you're just a shit Danny Dyer". Followed by "you're just a fat Danny Dyer", and "You're just a bald Danny Dyer to a bemused West Ham fan.

Many sections in the stadium would have barely heard us or not heard us at all but being next to the away fans generates atmosphere, and unlike @Gone for a Burton wanting away fans where we are I disagree. Kippax corner is often the loudest part of the stadium and that's largely due to being next to the away fans.

We have one of the best sectioned off away ends in the country, it's very easily policed with the entire away end completely blocked off with only one entrance/exit. That's always going to be the priority and the reason why I believe they'll never willingly change it.

Can't think of many others like ours, stoke is the only one that comes to mind, that is pretty much the same as the Etihad with a completely fenced in away section and Leeds is like the extreme, prison version with half a mile of cages to get through.

Anybody in the south stand will know first hand how much of a ballache it becomes getting in/out in cup games when we have to give them the third tier instead and entrances and segregation outside the ground changes, nobody wants to deal with that shitshow every other week.

In the ground, breaking them into 3 stands makes it a lot harder for them to all sing in unison, not impossible but most of their songs take far more effort to buikd into a full away end singing with the mahority tailing off before they can fully get going. Anything else helps them build an atmosphere, and why would we do that?

Aside from the logistics, it's still a no thanks from me, I'm basically on the barrier in SS1, I'm there because I want to be, I like it, everybody I even vaguely know around me seems to feel the same. never heard any complaints. I have zero intention of moving from my seat and if there were to be any overhaul of the layout that forced me to move or even just changed my match experinence, my first thought would be to find an equivalent seat to what I have now, essentially just creating the same environment in a different part of the ground. There's no problem to be fixed here in my eyes.
It's also not a particularly nice to be an away fan when it's a big game and we are on it. That Arsenal fan from the home treble game posting a video of getting absolute pelters from both sides. It's what you want from a modern football game, actually safe and actually intimidating for the right reasons. We just don't take advantage of it as much as we can do.

Still I think a more European style North Stand with the south stand keeping its Bert character is probably the best of both worlds. The dream scenario is the two stands singing to one another to keep the atmosphere up, while Kippax corner picks one away lad giving it large to try and make cry.
