Moving location, standing & atmosphere arrangements in the new North Stand

To get the right mentality of people to relocate from the SSL1 to NS will take some doing. We all have our cliques, groups who've been together for years, in the same spot, year in year out. There's probably about 30 of us on Aisle 117, edges of 116/117, who have a bond that none would want to be broken. Most of us do aways as well, so the friendships are that much stronger. Having said that if it was a case of one goes, we all go, then I'm sure we all would.

Its almost like each group needs a mini- committee to decide, mobilise and act for all. A hundred committees, make a decision and the comradery could be preserved.

This is what we've been waiting for lads n lasses. It's an opportunity to create something special and bring back the spirit of the Kippax.

Let's not let it slip through our hands.

Completely agree. I think this is one of the most important elements of the expansion.

We need to get this sorted out now and properly organised. Fan groups need to be involved.

The home end should be the second tier. 7,000 fans all stood up in one section - why wouldn’t we do that. Tifo Displays and noise levels would be great.

When we moved from Maine road this wasn’t thought about.
Its the only plan that makess sense - level one will be just a copy of SS1. Needs to be all of NS3

There’d be no reason to turf anyone out ,as long as thise staying understand the new make up of the stand.
And what happens if you don’t want to sing? You get booted out of the seat you have had for years?

My hope is that the whole of south stand level 1 will be allocated for visiting supporters and that north stand level 2 will be priced reasonably enough to give the most vocal part of our support the incentive to relocate there.

The club won’t do that. That will help the away teams attacking SSL1, where all their fans will be located. No Club in the PL gives away fans a full end on L1 behind the goal.

The best outcome like many of us have posted is to put the away fans in 109, 110, 111, the current away end, 114 and 115. That might fit 3000 away fans?

That then leaves the rest of SSL1 for home fans. And we would also get the away ends in SSL2&3 back.

For me, the family stand should become EL3 or CBL3. The current north stand is just so lifeless and boring, at least there expanding it and theres hope that it can become far more atmospheric.

The north stand should not involve any corporate, as this takes away from the atmosphere as fine diners in corporate aren't going to be the ones who are chanting or creating a real atmosphere. We already have corporate wise : Boxes, Tunnel club (Premium and so called 'normal tunnel club'), Chairmans Club, Mancunian, Citizens, Legends, 1894 Bar, Managers Corner, Ardwick Bar, Commonwealth Bar, Joe's and KITS.

This is a lot of corporate and there would be no need for it be in the new stand. It should be safe standing and should be similar to the spurs stand or the yellow wall.

Its extremely promising this and lets hope it comes off and is executed correctly.

There could be an issue in that theres about 12-15 boxes currently in the north stand and either they will stay or they may be built elsewhere, guess well have to wait and see.

People have been turfed out of the North Stand before to create a Family Stand, people have been turfed out of other areas of the ground for corporate sections… Christ 25,000 were turfed out of the heart and soul of Maine Road when the Kippax was knocked down and some people say going to City games has never been the same since 1994.

This new stand could be the heart and soul of the Etihad. Everyone will be proud to be part of it!

It’ll be 31 years without our own proper famous vocal stand by the time this opens. Many of our fans weren’t even born when the Kippax was alive and kicking. We need one. It’s as simple as that! Apologies to anyone who will get annoyed by people standing and singing, flags and banners, smoke bombs and flares… this isn’t about a few hundred people who won’t want to move and won’t want the change, it’s about the whole fanbase and club from the 15,000 who’ll stand there from when it opens and those who’ll stand there for decades to come.

I genuinely hope it happens. It’s badly needed and has been for years. It really would be fantastic for the fans and the team. However I wouldn’t put past the club to make a swathe of it corporate. I really wouldn’t.
