Mr Bates vs the Post Office

No, but you are saying it did exactly as portrayed by a drama on tv.
She certainly visited but as for her demeanour…
Never heard of poetic licence for dramatic effect?
I would think due to the seriousness of the crimes committed and the fact PO can call on very expensive suits to protect them, I would envisage the writers of this drama left no stone unturned in ensuring what they portayed, actualy occured, not leaving themselves open to any libel claims

I know the actor playing Vennels had no wiggle room and her script was presented verbatim

I get monthly emails from gas and electric telling me it is time to get one. If they a thinking i'm going to take two days off from my retirement so they can fit them, they can fuck off. Also noticed my water was 80 quid a month. Rang them up to find i was 394 in credit. Cunts. Cut to 25 PM.

What, your gas and electric are telling you to get a post office? ;)

“Some names and characters have been changed.
Some scenes imagined.”

The opening disclaimer of every episode.

It’s one thing presenting recorded testimony from a court another when it’s someone’s front room with no witnesses.

Agreed, having been seemingly fucked over at ever turn, I highly doubt, given this was their chance to put their side of the story out there, they made something of that magnitude up, just can’t see it.

My M-I-L was in it briefly and she was contacted by the writers 7 years ago. It’s been a long time coming.

Well, we will never know. I simply dont think the producers would expose themselves to anything that could be challenged, particularly as this was a one shot for them

It's really sad isn't it.

I'm waiting for the next scandal to hit.
My money's on Smart Metering from the power companies.
Another techno-wonder that just doesn't feel 100% accurate e.g. stories of consumers being hit with revised bills multiple times greater than previous.
Here's a prime example...

An energy company has issued an "unreserved apology" to a businessman who was mistakenly hit with a £244,000 bill for a month's energy.

Patrick Langmaid, the owner of Martha's Orchard holiday park at Constantine Bay, said had experienced a "nightmare" since the money was taken out of his bank account via direct debit on 28 December.

Mr Langmaid said his normal monthly bills were between £2,100 and £2,700.

And here's a copy of his bill....

Years ago my dad had a bonkers electricity bill. Like 10 times what it normally was. Of course they came and checked the meter, it’s all working fine sir, we will replace it just for your peace of mind. Bill stood, he never had one like it before or after it.

You realise at that point how powerless you are.

Having family in TV I can assure you they do anything for ratings.
Don’t get me wrong, I think this is a scandal that should see prison sentences doled out to executives and govt ministers but too many people are treating this tv show as a documentary.
It isn’t, it’s dramatic interpretation of what happened and as all such drama it will have been titivated for effect.

And it worked!
