Having watched the clip again after originally seeing it at work whilst eating my dinner and cringing. I noticed after the remark on ManU he points to someone and give a friendly cheeky smile. So for me it was probably aimed at someone in the crowdwho was seen wearing a united scarf, so he was only having friendly banter and not being a foolish....Sadly SKY edited (with a big game on Sky coming on weds this may of been accidental, you can make up your own mind) this bit and now even some of the brighter posters on this forum have fallen for there clever editing tricks.

Which to be honest I find a tad more embarrasing than the Cook quote itself, saying that I do wish he'd keep quiet when there are cameras around as they will find something to edit and use.

Credit where it's due.
................................
Best thing he ever said after the Kaka story (for me) was "We're not just going to go away" simply aimed at the likes of Fergiscum, Sky and the top four brigade. More of this Mr C please and NO more filmed bar room banter/comments.

It was confirmed, i think in this thread that there was a united fan in the bar.

let me get this right ,the gist of this thread is garry cook has shot his mouth off about city being the best club in the

world and "we`re` gonna beat utd on wednesday and go to wembley"

what a **** it`ll wind utd right up that and dont get me started on Tevez and our fans fuckin hell will we never learn

for fuck sake any opportunity to wind those fuckers up should be gratefully accepted whatever the consequencies

Yeh, fuck it.

Why doesnt Khaldoon get a t-shirt done with Manchester City, Carling Cup winners 2010 on it and wear it the the Scunthorpe game where he knows the worlds media will get a good viewing? Why doesnt Mancini in his Rag pre-match press conference say in his finest English 'It is fantastic that we will be walking up the stairs of Wembley to pick up our first trophy in 34 years?

Because they have a lot more class, humilty, respect and are also not stupid enough to wind up the opposition, and to set the club up for a big fall. Because they know that winding up the world of football with pure fucking arrogance, when we have won fuck-all since anyone cares to remember, will only serve to alienate us just at at a time when we are starting to forge relationships with the very biggest clubs in the world, who far from winning fuck-all, are overflowing with trophies.................. but still dont have their own CEO spouting that they are going to do this and that yet they have every right to.

Class, respect, humilty. Its not just results that make the best team in the world.

Fella, it is not a matter of believing that the clip is a true reflection of his comments. I don't, but he should have a speech already prepared and run it passed somebody else. Cook should be aware by now of how the media can manipulate your message and ensure the message is clear and precise. He is representing City and I personally want him to be a little more humble.
We then do our talking on the pitch. Just my way of doing things.
Leave the gobbing off to Rags and Cockneys (Usually one of the same!).

He came to the bluemoon do before christmas and had time for everyone a lot more than a lot of the people on here did
so Mr Cook well done and keep up the good work

Sorry-but this mentality of "he bought us a few pints at the Bluemmon do so he must be alright" is just really short-sighted.

He may well be the best business brain in the universe,he may well have been the "Nike brand champion" but he appears to be turning into a horrible hybrid of David Brent/ Don King.

Exactly the type of guy we would all have mocked as a nobhead had he been at any other club.

In the last 12 months I've cringed as I heard him call Milan "bottlers," induct Rosler into the rag hall of fame, insult the club captain Richard Dunne, and now tell a supporters club (probably totally forgetting the spin that will be placed on what he says) how "sure" he is that we're going to become his version of the "biggest club in the world...." whatever that means.

I supported Cook over his stance with the media at the Mancini press conference. But my opinion now is that he is becoming a bit of a Prince Philip style liability and likes the centre-stage just a little too much. It's all gone to his head a lttle.

He should shut up with his daft,foot-in-mouth,Chablis-fuelled "world-domination" comments and get his face out of the papers until we win something.

Everyone is a piece of effectiveness in a Big Club (Company).
He couldn't be the wisest expertician of football environment, but indeed is a senior an top experienced business manager: he runs his role as he must do and he does efficiently. A business manager does not need to be popular neither nice rather than delivering. imo.

So lets get this right. Cook has managed to divide fans on this site, set himself up as an arrogant cock to the media, and made our club the object of contempt for every other football fan in the country. And people see this as a good thing?

comments like Mr Cook's just show where football and sport in general has now ended up...

Everything thesedays has got to be bigger than the rest, better than the rest, richer than the rest, no room for anyone else, we will dominate, blah blah blah...

Yeah, I want our club to compete, get trophies, be exciting to watch and be admired but this philosophy is one which has generated hatred for utd and others.

City to win everything for ever....hahaha

And once again I see that although this has generated debate which is healthy, unfortunatly it has also illustrated how pathetic fans can be to each other with their comments

more or less. we're divided over something extremely trivial. better than being bored and having nothing to talk about. and the contempt of your rivals is a sign you are on the right tracks.... as if it has much to do with cook's pronouncements. we all know it's more to do with their fear of us.

as far as the image of our club goes, this loudmouth does us no favours whatsoever. he should take PR lessons from Mancini who unites the fans and presents a fantastic image to the world, confident not arrogant.
