Explain infamous & andy mitten,in general have you actually read the MEN?
"no bias, interpret angle",you read you see,if a lie is told it's a lie,if a jouno lies about what a dead person was in real life it is a lie.
No angle,no bias,no interpretation or claim,just factual.

Yes I have read the MEN, and ok they have given a rag a coloumn to fill , prehaps we should suggest having a Blue Writer as well, there are a few posters on Blue Moon who can do the job. However in my opinion their reporting has been fair to us, we have high points in our history but too few of them. Like it or not they had been the most successful club for the best part of 20 years, we can't change that. Our time has now arrived and in my view, the way we are being percieved in the press will change over time as well.

In my opnion from a local paper fair is not enough!..If you can't get positive support from your local paper where else will it come from. I don't just mean in the articles that are printed, the journo's who interact with other media people should positively promte City, regardless of their rivalry which should remain a thing to be resolved by the players on the pitch.

You talk about football success, that's nothing compared to the legacy we are building in the community. I doubt there is any other club that does half the work we do in the community with youth development work and involvement with charities. The money being invested in the training accademy is unique in this country and something for everyone in Manchester to be proud of. When City's name is mentioned in the press it's always followed with terms like "sugar daddy" and "oil money" but that's not half of the story and it's time City fans stopped accepting these negative stereotypes of the club!!The local journo's are in the best position to help change the mindset of the media.

What another poster has qute rightly said futher down the thread said it is down to the club to put the message across. If the MEN says anthing out of untoward then City would be first to contact the newspaper.

So you are suggesting I don't write any positive articles, or challenge the national media when they write nonsense about City?
What about this:

<a class="postlink" href="http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/manchester_city/s/1492849_comment-manchester-city-buying-glory-now-thats-rich" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... thats-rich</a>

or this:

<a class="postlink" href="http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/manchester_city/s/1493428_stuart-brennan-manchester-city-are-stockpiling-points-and-goals---not-players" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... ot-players</a>

That is just in the last two or three months - I have written stuff like this consistently through my three years in this job.
I have also covered City's community work and academy work more than anyone else (except the official site, obviously) - in fact I am hoping to do a piece on the academy later this week.
You don't notice all the positive stuff because it doesn't fit your agenda, that the MEN is a Utd-loving, anti-City, force for evil.
What you are suggesting appears to be Soviet-style propaganda - never criticise, no matter what the club does, and always try to make out things are wonderful. That is the job of the official website, not the local paper.

Stuart, you know full well that the comments above were in response to a fellow blue's comment that as we had not had the same success as our neighbours all we could expect from our local newspaper was a fair press.

I was not suggesting there were no positive stories written by you or your colleagues and I have no idea whether you challenge the national media on behalf of City. I would contain that the owner's investment in City from all media is viewed 99% as negative when from a City perspective this is not the case, therefore I would have to ask myself whether any challenges from the MEN are proving effective.

Yes I would contend that the local media should always put a postive slant on any story concerning local teams. This is why historicaly local newspapers and radio stations have always had journo fans and ex players covering their teams, for their in depth knowledge and support.

The paper as a whole has gone really shit.

There stories are just zzzzzzzzz Telling us who said what on fkn Twitter half the time. They know fk all about what's going on at the club.

Its been pointed out numerous times on this thread, they don`t get "exclusives",just like eveyone else, since we owned our own OS.

Without getting into arguments about bias, why anyone would read this boring, middle of the road, populist (ie right wing) rag (no pun intended) is beyond me. The sports "journalists" whether writing about us or the Stretford team would struggle to make the cut at the Beano (a fine, well written publication that knows its audience).

How do you know if you don`t read it ?
Always intrigues me when people use that argument.

Here's how positive the headlines were about City just after we had won the league....

scaled.php

This is pathetic - it comes from five days after the title win. Why didn't you show the headlines from the previous four days, when we ran page after page after page of praise, positivity and glory, glory stuff about City?
By this point we had said just about everything there was to be said about it, and I took a day off.
If the MEN had been so selective about something to do with City, you would accuse us of having an anti-City agenda. Does this mean you have an anti-MEN agenda?

Not only that SB,but there`s fuck all negative about the pictures and stories linked to them.
Even now NDJ is being linked to other clubs,as is Tevez, but no idea as to where you got the Balo idea from,as its the first time I`ve seen that.
As the old adage goes "don`t let the bastards grind you down" mate. ;)

The coverage when we won the title was brilliant. Souvenir editions, page after page of articles and some great pics (now on my wall at work).

Tonights MEN front page full column in colour 'Fans fury as glazers 'pocket shares cash.' And a little pic of Glazer to scare the kiddies.

In the footy pages;

Berbatov escape from reds
Plug charged over twitter jibe

And a double page colour feature on the Malaysia match written by Stuart Brennan in which he drools over Aguero's future potential.
