He still went on to fight 60 odd times after that when he was past it, more than most fighters fight in their whole career, and still won most of them.

Not being flippant, just an opinion. I'm not criticizing the man himself, but the sport. I think boxing is nothing more than violence and encourages violence in others, particularly young people, I've seen evidence of that myself in the past. Like I said though, still very sad that he is no longer with us.
