People on here will always find something to have a moan about. It was essentially a training match ffs. They were even wearing the training kit! The game clearly wasn't meant to be seen either, given the amateur footage. My guess is numbers would probably have been stuck on last minute by the 1860 munchen kitman at the request of the ref so he can identify the players. Really isn't big thing at all so stop blowing it out of proportion.

I don't give a flying fuck. They thought it was a big enough game to make the front page of the OS. I also wouldn't say that I'm blowing something out of propportion, let's look at the facts:

They retired the number 23 and therefore cannot be used in games.
They used it in a game.

That's enough for me. Oh, and I would guess the reason why they weren't in the full kit, was because we DON'T EVEN HAVE A FULL KIT YET! Also, it was an arranged match, and there was a couple of hundred people there, not exactly a thrown together at the last minute thing. Even we aren't unprofessional enough to not turn up with numbers for a football match.

People are too sensitive over MVF, I thought it was OTT retiring the number 23 TBH.
It was almost as if some City fans were pleased that we had our own tragedy to mourn at last.

A player of ours died on the pitch and we retired the shirt. My whole problem is that if they retired the shirt, they look like cocks wearing it again. I'm fucked off because at the time, it was a very classy thing for the club to do, and wearing the number 23 now takes away from that.

He wasn't our player though and he didn't die playing for us. I disagree that it was a classy thing to do. I thought at the time and still do, that it was an overreaction on the clubs behalf, brought about by an embarrassing public outpouring of grief by City fans.

they only have 40 of these kits printed and need them for south africa . they told us ..we have got the 23 and if someones e mailed in to the club they wont be using it again anyway ..so really we have the only one ever printed by the club as far as we know . And like i said they can have it back . |
Its got the new sponsors ETIHAD on it and its UMBRO . I dont think they anticipated any city fans being there . Just think its being a silly mistake somewhere as there is only so many of them been printed

True. It essentially was a reserves match played overseas, the number 23 is probably worn in the Reserves and Youth teams. If you watch Reserves matches you will probably see someone wearing number 23. Its being blown out of all proportion.
