I'll throw some names at you of the gang I knocked about with, they still meet up at the Grand Central every so often. Rob (Blackley), Vlad (Cheetham Hill), Killer and Georgia, Andy Corbett (Blackley), Ken Pownall (Blackley), H (Proper Red always arguing with him but), Poke (Same as H), Johny Fee, Frannie Fee, Grant(Heywood) , Colin Duffy (RIP) Sarah (Glossop), Dec, Roger and Corinne (Blackley), Taff (Blackley), Shaun (Middleton), Bicer (Harpurhey) and myself Josh. There was loads more of us every week met up, great days just one big family.

Dont think I know any of those. I'm from Midd and I remember a lad called Shaun who went in the Brunswick, he played the drums as I recall. My lot were all Middleton lads - John & Mark Townsend, Si & Andy Tetlow, Smithy, Faz (RIP), Jimmy Mills, Si Butler, Bear but I also used to know tonnes of people just from the clubs. Did you know "Fuck Off Dave", the DJ? and Barrell from the Banshee, Julia Howells, Ivor (in Silverwing) Jane and Alan Wolfendale, Jill Bromley. Used to bother with lots of students who came and went, spent lots of time at parties in student land (Fallowfield, Longsight etc)

Yes some of those names are familiar, im gonna have to have a chat with one of the lads and put names to faces. There's a couple of lads on here that used to do the same circuit and Silverwing was a bit of a topic of conversation a few weeks back. Do you know a girl, well she'll be a woman now of course haha called Donna, she was from Middelton and loved metal. I used to meet her sometimes on the bus 121/122 on the way into town but would always see her at some point in the night. She was small and slim probably petite with long black straight hair and always wore a leather jacket. Would love to see her again. I should have asked her out but I never did although we'd often end up having a kiss at the end of the night. Often think about her.

Nile, no not really, slightly too melodic for my liking, however I haven't listened to a great deal of their music. Just put "Sacrifice Unto Sebek" on to have another listen.

Sadly I have never been to a proper "metal" event. First chance I had was when I was 15 and it was a Napalm death concert but Mum wouldn't let me go.

Now, work and location dictates that I don't get to any at all.

Whaaaaat!?? You were working with him? What do you do?!

I'll admit it I'm a Patton fanboy, got all the Tomahawk stuff some Bungle, Fantomas, Lovage was brilliant although not metal.

Stuff with Dillinger Escape Plan "Epic" as well!

I met Patton in 95/96 by sneaking into Manchester Uni when FNM played there. He agreed to let me interview him for a fanzine I had back then, and we ened up staying in touch. By the time he started Ipecac I was working for a record company in Australia, so I did a deal with him to look after his label out there. Worked on the first few Fantomas/Tomahawk records, the Lovage album with Dan the Automator. Patton's an all round nice guy. Fascinating company just keep him away from the hard liquor otherwise expect the night to become very surreal and very unpredictable.
