Well surprised no mention of Django Reinhardt..Amazing story of him losing two fingers in a caravan fire somewhere on youtube...OK. not contemporary choice, but still amazing guitarist.

Brilliant, as is the little Aussie Tal Wilkenfeld on Bass

This is why I revere Beck so much. He can seemingly play any style, tastefully. He sounds like....Jeff Beck.

Fully recommend his album, Blow by Blow.

Blow by Blow is great.

One of my favourite albums is Beck Live with the Jan Hammer Group. I believe they toured the U.S. as support to Aerosmith and at one point they play the riff from Train Kept a Rollin', which apparently would send the Aerosmith fans wild thinking Beck was playing a 'Smiths' song :-)

Was fortunate enough to see Hammer play with Beck at the Royal Albert Hall: they are one of the great guitar and synth combinations.
