Must see documentaries..

Jimmy Carter, Rock and Roll President. A two hour documentary on Sky Arts, covering his presidency and looking at the crucial part music had in it. Tremendous watch, superbly made, great music, a good bit of insightful history and a complimentary coverage of Jimmy himself.

Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson give interviews as both remain personal friends as is Greig Allman. I learned more in the two hours than I had expected to. He is now 96 and still building houses for charity. An amazing, courteous, principled man who has tried to do the right thing all his life. Highly recommended.

Look at what former Presidents have done out of office, only Carter has actually & regularly contributed to society & peace throughout that time while others were filling their bank accounts with appearance fees. Tells you all you need to know about the character of these public servants, most serve themselves while others work in service of the public

I agree with you about Carter. Its really uplifting what he and his wife have done. It really demonstrates what type of human being they both are.

I will resist commenting on other Presidents as I don't know the facts - like I didn't know how much Carter had done until that documentary. Obama seems to put energy back (as well as filling his bank account).

Cheers for the recommendation, I am enjoying it atm. I am sure I would've eventually stumbled upon it but glad to read your comments, it is excellent

Aretha's performance alone, wow

Just watched Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band. A lovely reminder of times gone by and the wonderful music made by these talented people. Some great archive footage shows how good they were and lots of famous people pop by to have their say on the influence The Band had on their careers and lives. Shame that things ended the way they did but sometimes these things happen. As this is based on Robertson's memoir it's definitely slanted in his favour and with 3 of the 5 no longer with us we're unlikely to get another view then I'll take whatever I can get. Might have to dig out the dvd of The Last Waltz for tomorrow night now too.
