My House smells at night...

I'm wondering if it is an animal and you haven't found it. A mouse under floorboards possibly. I had it in the hall and I'm sure it was a mouse. But it went on its own. Perhaps being rural you're getting a few in?

Had this a few months ago there was an awful smell in our conservatory that we couldn't locate for weeks . As you entered from the house you could start to smell it about a yard in. As we followed our noses it seemed to get stronger for a few yards seemed to be strongest around the area of the washing machine and then stopped about a yard past it. We searched for the source many times with no success. Eventually I found it just inside the door it was a carrier bag with used swimming gear at the bottom (not been washed for about 9 months) but whoever had packed it had put a folded unused towel at the top of the bag, so we assumed it had all been washed.

http://www.assap.ac.uk/newsite/articles/Paranormal smells.html not saying your smell is paranormal, but the section "finding odour smells" was useful to us as it explained why smells might not be strongest around the source.

I found an old pair of Vans under the bed recently, really smelt musty. Did some research and apparently if you put them in separate plastic bags and put them in the freezer for at least 24 hours the smell goes. I'm in the process of freezing.

I had it a few years ago, it was a dead hedgehog at the back of the garage
