My opinion about Adam Johnson(merged)

Re: My opinion about Adam Johnson.

He can actually weight a decent through-ball in a central role. Looks better there than on the wing to be honest.

My opinion about Adam Johnson.

Couldn't understand why AJ was withdrawn - he looked man most likely in the 2nd half. NDJ should have been the one to go.................The horror of it was to see that fool Kolarov come on 5 mins later - when we were looking to win!
Is he the worst player in the Prem?

When AJ was forced to stay wide, under instruction from Mancini, he had nowhere to go, got no service & had no one to cross to if he did get the ball. We were shit. When he was allowed to come inside, we were totally dominating the game, looking like scoring, playing good football & AJ was at the heart of it, so Bob took him off.

Why , I don't know.

I agree Mancini should of kept him on in midfield where he can see a pass and could of got us a goal..

Re: My opinion about Adam Johnson.

He turned the Carling Cup game against Wolves around within 5 minutes earlier on in the season, if he doesn't play regularly then he's always going to be hit and miss.

Maybe lacking abit of confidence as Mancini hasn't shown too much faith in him but I personally wouldn't sell him.

Re: My opinion about Adam Johnson.

It's hard. Not many wingers will track back effectively and still be quality going forward.

Johnson spent a lot of time defending in the first half. I just don't see him as having that much ability. Destined for a career as an impact player, or a starter for a team like Sunderland or Newcastle (no disresepect to those two, who are decent sides).

When he first arrived, he had a surprise element about him. Now everyone knows he's going to cut back inside onto his left and run into a load of defenders.

Re: My opinion about Adam Johnson.

I'm still not convince that he is a starter.

He is effective for 30-60minutes so IMO at the moment an impact 'off the bench' player.

Adam Johnson.

Now I'm not saying I don't think he a is useful player for us, or that he has no future, or even that I don't think he has a role to play in certain games.
However I would hope that his recent starts and subsequent performances have shown to all those "get AJ on" fools, and the "Mancini needs to give Johnson more of a chance" hacks an idea of his actual level.
While again I'm not saying he was the worst player in the Sunderland game, the derby or last night, but surely he was the player with the most to prove. After all it was he that was disappointed not to get the nod in the 'BIG' games.
Last night and Sunderland we really needed him to shine, he didn't. I personally don't think he will ever make it at the top level, He needs to decide would he be happier being an impact player for a side challenging or a player in and out of the starting xi for a mid table side. I say in and out of a mid table side as no manager in his right mind would start him against a top side, his work rate is not there and his ability to impact the game is limited against better players. He excels when players are tired both physically and mentally.
I don't mean to slag him, I just struggle to understand the media fascination and certain sections of City fans that seem to adore him so much. We only need to be 0-0 after 20 minutes and the moron behind me is shouting "get AJ on". Mind you, he thinks Ya Ya is useless.
AJ has disappointed me greatly, I really hoped he would shine, especially last night against Glenn Johnson who gives you space and was playing on his wrong side.
It seems en vogue to slag Kolarov, Nasri and even Dzeko, but AJ has done less to prove his worth than any of these. Nasri was slated against the shite, rightly so, Dzeko against Liverpool last week but AJ can remain anonymous in games and no criticism.
All said and done it's AJ putting the pressure on himself, as it's him complaining that he doesn't get the chance, well Adam the chance is here, you should be making it impossible for Mancini to bring you off, let alone a logical move to bring you off.

Re: Adam Johnson.

I sagree to an extent but I thought in the second half he was the one player who looked as though he could thread a pass through their defence.
Nasri just seems to run in circles and repeatadly gives the ball away.
Without Silva we dont have players who can unlock defences, at least Johnson tried.

Has to improve his defensive side and his right side by a sizeable margain if he is to take the next step and I am not sure he will ever be capable of that.

Too often when he starts the game passes him by and when he doesn't do that special through ball or assist/score that goal often as you say from the bench he is largely ineffective.

Still believe he has a role to play at the club unless we get a much better version of him who also has a bit of a right foot and can track back when needed without question.

Adam Johnson.

I'd much rather see him on the left side against the bigger sides. I don't think he has the skill to cut in from the right against defensively sound teams. He would be a lot better if given the more simple task of finding a man in the box with his strong foot.
