He is shit, I really don't know if other people saw the same match as me. He is the weak link. You are told as a kid, either go to man and trackle, or stand off (which he does) and block the cross. He does neither. Granted he gets in good offensive poositions, but unfortunatly these first time flat cross are dogshit, and was lucky on this occasion one of them worked tonight (1st goal). Carling cup for me.

Goodness me - someone seeing the light at last?!

I was banging on about this 'left side of defence' problem ALL last Season - and stressing the importance of addressing it in the transfer window. All you lot were calling me 'rag' and telling me I know 'f' all about it...............................well you all saw the obvious truth last night.

Kolarov isnt a top four footballer, never has been and never will be AND he certainly isnt a Champions League top eight player!
Trouble is, niether is Lescott - yes he's good enough for the Prem and I have to admit he's improved on last Season - but he needs leading.
Barry too has improved, but again he's miles behind what is required of a potential Ch League winner.

So,that left side continues to be a problem and teams will (and already are) targetting us there. Never mind buying more wingers and centre forwards, we desperately need a left back AND a left footed world class centre half.

Another I got right. ;)

The argument about rotating though is fair enough if the players we're bringing in are up to it. Zab's not bad so it's fair play but Kolarov is shite. Yesterday though we had to play our best XI and that has Micah and Clichy in it.

I know theres a few scoresheet fans on here, who see the name Kolarov has scored and then watch his goal on MOTD and think "oo, he's good", but it's plain to see he's not a top footballer.

Call me old fashioned but for me a defender should be able to defend. Kolarov can't. His positional sense is all over the place, he can't tackle, too slow to chase wingers and tbh one of the softest Serbians around. This is why Zab can be let off, he's a brilliant defender and can be alright going forward.

He's not much better going forward either, no pace, poor decision making, overhits crosses (if he beats the first man), shoots from anywhere, I could go on...

I've said it for ages. Clichy > Zab > Kolarov for left back, even Bridge is close to him if not better.

He seems like a good lad off the pitch but he's got to go I'm afraid. Once him, Bridge and Kolo go, we haven't really got a bad player.

Spot on................

I'd say they were pretty even and Bridge could have played a lot better than him last night.

I'd say Bridge is a better player to be honest.

Stupid reply.

Agree Entirely, Kolarov is for the majority of time dreadful and that is putting it nice but oh no because he has scored two free kicks and got a couple of assists suddenly he's the best thing since sliced bread. He can't defend simple as that, taught at elementary level to stop the cross, stop the supply but his tactical awareness/positioning is dreadful, he's knowhere to be seen and leaves us exposed time and time again and when he is jockeying a player the cross get's in either way (especially cannot head the ball either). Offensively he is woeful, thinks he has the divine right to shoot on sight, when he does cross he just leathers it in a genral direction and most of them are not completed. Being a free kick 'specialist' and having a 'rocket' shot you'd thought he would've got more goals to be honest. I've commented on how bad he is for a long time but no... "Your a shit fan" "Support the team" "He got a goal didn't he so he's good" It's bullshit and that he has always been utter dogshite and needs to be shipped out as soon as. *Matter of Bridge being better? I'd say just better due to him having some capability of defending.

Re: The truth about Kolorov

Fucking hell Kolarov was poor the other night but to say Bridge is better.......get the fuck outta here.

Re: The truth about Kolorov

Kolarov actually touches the ball once or twice with his right foot and at least he can attack if not defend well. Bridge can do neither. Might aswell stick a traffic cone at left back.

Re: The truth about Kolorov

Kolarov can be awful half the time.

That said, I think many people on here have some great footballing knowledge. I mean I think some should go get some coaching badges and become top club scouts and coaches. I mean, you all seem so insightful into the best players at a club. But surely Mancini has it wrong? Playing this guy? OR it could just be that him, Kidd and Platt all see something that he adds to the team? But obviously they are wrong, and most people on here should apply for a coaching role.

Re: The truth about Kolorov

im afraid this current city side need more than kolorov can provide.

No other player makes my stomach churn with fear when i see his name on the team sheet.

Dont get me wrong hes a willing tryer and occasionally puts in a decent performance but we haved moved on from this level of a player.

Just my opinion of course.

Re: The truth about Kolorov

Kolorov had a bad night as did a few others and a but without his free kick in the home tie against Napoli we would have been out before now.

Bridge is not exactly brilliant, granted. But at least he can defend a tiny weeny little bit. Going forward both are rubbish.

-- Thu Nov 24, 2011 9:47 am --

I have to say reading the above made me piss myself laughing. A traffic cone - love it :-)
