My personal wake up call to all true Supporters

Mancio I think some of what read may be lost in translation. We dont always take ourselves seriously. You have to have a sense of humour to support City, and remember it is only a cross section of veiws posted on here.

Easy on the fella, lads. His English is better than most of our Italian, and looks like it's been run through a translater programme. All he's saying is too many people assume that cos Bobby's Italian, he's defensive

Frankly, for what I see on the forum, It does not appear very clearly that most people hereon are supporting the Manchester City F.C., neither very much interested in the Club success, nor the enhancement of the quality of the players that will act for City in the future.
The genaral output is more close to a kind of xenophobic stronghold of the value of being "me and my lads at my cousin's pub only". Frankly these moods won't bring nothing better to the club perspectives.

I always wondered why one of the world's best football managers - Sven Goran - wasn't able to deliver success hereon: perhaps now I starting realize some clues...

I never been interested in running popularity contests, so I m not afraid to result unpopular:

like every part of the world, even Manchester I suppose, is fed by a good blend of genius, smart people, brillant people. good people, everage people, ignorant people, xenophobics and idiots,
my very passionate plea to the most gifted City supporters is to wake up and start work harder to improve the average output of the City's environment
untill a very very strict mentality will affect the majority of the fans, the result will be invariably:
- increased difficulties for the Club's Officiers to revert the Club status
- an easy platform for the "sportman" SAF to joke on City.

Football is not difficult like quantum maths, so that it should not be so difficult for any single City fan to start separating personal loves and feelings from the reality of facts.
I m proud to be a new City fan and want the Club to succeed more than to make useless points on my personal feelings: my heartedly suggestion, to all those seriously interested in the success of M.C.F.C. is to start acting the same and think wider.

Hehehehehe nice one

I know that you'd like to say, but inghliterra, we are big fans. We have not won anything for 34 years, so sometimes we can be negative, but in the coming years, when we win everything, the city, and the City fans, we would be largest in the world

jesus. If we want to slag of our blues, then we can. If we want to get behind them, we can. Most of us supporters have every ounce of our souls invested in our clubs. Once you have supported a club for about 5+ years, the chances are that you have probably outlasted the majority of the players. Once you get to 15+ years, the club becomes your child and if you don't like something that happens, you have every right to shout and scream and moan.
But most of all - ITS JUST A BLOODY GAME OF FOOTBALL. If we needed psychotherapy, we don't need to listen to your your dribble. It was enough to turn anyone into a nut case

I think what he's trying to say is that all rag fans are wankers, as are arsewipes, bindippers and chelski jumping bean salesmen and that City and only City fans, understand the meaning of life, know the secret of the universe and why sky Blue is better than Red. Yep, thats what I think he's trying to say.

I kinda see his point. And it's demonstrated in some of the replies. OK so he's only been a fan 5 minutes, but if we're gonna succeed like we all keep telling ourselves we're gonna pick up new fans, and we shouldn't see that as a bad thing. Maybe we should just start a star system like McDonalds (we could put them above the crest on our shirts...)

Moaning about new fans, constantly slagging our own players/managers (although sometimes justified), obsessing over the rags. It all just backs up cuntface's 'small club mentality' comments, and I actually find it quite interesting to read a recent foreign convert (presumably due to Mancini and the fact we're half decent now)'s take on it.

Alright, he probably never had a chair chucked at him in the North Stand by some Millwall gorilla, but since half the posters on here seem about 15, neither did they I guess. All good.

I welcome new fans with open arms where ever they are from .I just dont want to be lectured by them

(edit - this is a reply to Cyberblue - didn't expect to be beaten to it so quickly!)

Nah fair play, but then the English wasn't great, so the tone may have been lost in translation. I can agree with what I think were some of the points though, especially coming from the mouth of someone unsullied by, well, being a City fan for the last 30odd years! He's obviously gonna lack our dark humour and general world weariness!

Sling your hook Wop.

Come on-we're better than this.

He was warned for it.

I'm disheartened when I see 'new fans' treated in this way.

My love for City comes from the fact that even though I was from a Red area and all my mates were Reds, City fans still took me in as part of the family, with random acts of kindness, generosity and respect. Nobody ever questioned my commitment, always gave me advice on handling the bastards I called friends, and silly things like teaching me songs when I couldn't get the words right because I couldn't hear from outside on matchday.

This attitude is what makes us such a great club, and why we are a breach apart from the rags. The rags look at each other and divide them into categories - Mancs, Cockneys, pre '92s, pre-00's, etc, etc. We shouldn't have any of that bullshit, we should attempt to bring new members into the City family by teaching them what it means to be a City fan. This way, our club grows, but our soul is unchanged.

Mancio4Ever, one of the things that you need to understand about City fans, is that our outlook on life is different to most. The Typical City tag isn't for nothing, it's because we've had years of heartbreak. This has taught us two things:

1. Always look at the negatives of something. Purely because the moment someone dares to mention a positive, it is sure to disappear.
2. Always have a sense of humour about yourselves. I can't remember any other team ever getting beaten 4-0 at home in the first twenty minutes of a game, then singing "It's like watching Brazil" because we made a pass that connected.

We do base ourselves in the reality as you suggest. The reality is that we have won nothing for 34 years, and are 5th in the league. We'll start celebrating once we have something to celebrate. We aren't Liverpool or Milano, we don't constantly talk about how great we were 10 years ago. We live in the here and now, this is what we have being taught to do over generations. Only 10 years ago, I wouldn't think about where City were going to be next season, because I wasn't even sure if City would exist at that point, and I didn't want to worry about it.
