My prediction after Fulham ran them close...

They aren't going to play as badly as they did last night again this season.

They'll go to Blackburn with people thinking they'll slip-up and go 2-0 up before half time and the game will be over. They do it time and time again.

If we are to win the league then it's simple, we must win every remaining game.

Can I also have tonight's Euro Millions numbers please ;)

I can really see Swansea cutting the rags to pieces, and if Scholes starts that game he definitely won't be finishing it because he'll chop someone down after seeing the ball passed around him for 10minutes.

Blackburn aren't going to be a walkover, neither are Wigan. It's then down to how badly O'Neil wants to upset the party on the last day.

Last night gave me a lot of confidence that they're going to drop points somewhere. Given that a team who've only scored 8 away goals all season could've gotten at them a better team will have a field day.

Evans is only ever a cm away from an own goal or some other calamitous venture, Smalling isn't all that you can see that bacon face was crapping himself last night, pulling off Rooney.

Whatever happns it's going to be exciting and I for one am somewhat comforted to know that City are still City - we never do anything easy!

That's an interesting shout and to be honest, I'd be more confident about Swansea taking points off them than most of the other teams they have left to play.

Blackburn away has been a testing fixture at times for United down the years plus they beat them at The Swamp but can we really expect United to slip up twice in the same season against them?

Wigan have never picked up a single point against them. Despite what some think, they haven't always been on the end of a hammering - there have been a couple of close games at Wigan in the past between the two teams - but I'd expect United to win that one comfortably.

Everton often give them a good game at Goodison but haven't won at Old Trafford in something like 20 years. Plus Moyes is a fully paid up member of the Fergie arse-licking mob.

Villa won there the other year but other than that their recent record at United is utterly woeful. They've also had a poor season and McLeish is another one of Ferguson's bum boys.

As others have said, we're going to have to do this the hard way. I still think United can slip up somewhere along the way aside from the derby but I doubt whether it'll happen more than once.

Is our collective depression stemming from the fact that we've been at the top for the best part of the season and now find ourselves in 2nd with 8 games to play, having acquired 70 points??
I for one have vertigo given our current state and recall thinking the holy grail this season - like last - was to try and cement a Chumps League place, with a "pot" an added upside.
Irrespective of what happens between now and the end of the season, it's been a fantastic season to be a blue: Munich, Naples, 6-1, 5-1, 3-2, 2-1 etc etc. Our team is not going to drift off into the sunset after 10th May (or whenever the season ends; they are here to stay and so too, IMHO, is Bobby Manc. We'll continue to develop and can look ahead with gusto to the coming seasons; even Fergie acknowledged recently that we're going to be a real rival to United from now on.

In the meanwhile, BELIEVE!

The mighty Swansea that we are hoping will beat them at the swamp were brought back down to earth by Everton at home at the weekend illustrating how poor our result against them was. They will have nothing to play for by then and that will go against them.

Blackburn with 9 losses out of 15 at home and Wigan with 7 losses remain our best hope. Worrying

Meanwhile Arsenal have only lost twice at home, Newcastle twice and Norwich 4 times.

There is a lot to do!

I love the fact that United, after winning a game despite playing poorly, and being gifted 2 points by a shocking refereeing decision, are suddenly according to some going to drop points in a few games this season. If last night proved anything it's that it doesn't matter how well United play they'll still, either by their own means or with assistance from the officials, find a way to win. If anything last night just provided me with more proof that City will need to beat Arsenal, and win all their other games, to have a shot at the title.

Truth is, it should never have got to this stage. If we don't win it, we can only blame ourselves. If we did the business at places we should have (WBA and Sunderland for starters) we'd be streets ahead.

Absolutely ......

i note with interest that Newcastle (6th) have just won 3-1 at WBA ... and Everton (9th) have just won 2-0 at Swansea ..... just two ordinary sides getting great results at places that a title chasing side with the Premierships best defence (like ourselves) couldn't!

I have my hopes pinned on Blackburn for starters

and Swansea are sure to give them a game

wouldn't want to be depending on MON to do us any favours against Slur Alex

But all irrelevant if we don't do the business

Good points. I think if we were offered 2nd place at the start of the season the majority of us would've taken it as it represents progress. I know I would've accepted that before a ball was kicked.

However, the way the season has unfolded - with our fantastic start and with us being top for so long, it now seems a little disappointing that we could end up finishing as runners-up. The bigger picture though is that, as you said, we're not going away and ought to be even stronger next season providing we continue to build on what we have now. Ferguson knows he and United won't be able to hold us off for ever.

I would have taken 15/15 home wins for sure. I would also have taken 2nd as long as we were closer than last season which we have been. The disappointment would be winning nothing if that happens after the season we have had and the football we have played especially at home. It will however soon be forgotten as they always are espwith Euro 2012 around the corner.

On the positive side we can still win it as they were poor last night, We might get the dream win at Arsenal if they have an off day and lets face it their winning run wont go on forever and we know we can beat the rags at home.

Worse case scenario we finish 2nd, qualify for the CL again with no qualifying round, buy 2/3 world class players and do better next year.

It certainly could be worse....We could still be talking about Samaras being the uncut diamond and hoping we sign Reo Coker on loan in the summer!!

We have made a lot of progress in a short space of time and of course it is better than where we were.We should now grow stronger and better and the team should toughen up more mentally hopefully.

I think the first half of the season everything we touched turned to gold.Every shot seemed to go in instead of just miss or hit the post or bar.Every player was on top of their form.

The second half we have suffered. We are the team who has hit the woodwork more times than any other[a stat i read somewhere] Some of our players have gone off the boil,we have had injuries and players carrying injuries, some awful decisions go against us,but that happens to most teams.

We are not that bad just need a player or two to hit peak form again, get a bit of a rub of the green and a kind ref now and then. There are 8 games left.Mancini needs to get everyone together, take a deep breath, tell them the season starts here again and go for broke.Win all 8 and we will be champions even now, providing the rags don't run up a few cricket scores.

Of course, that was all hypothetical. But whenever there is a game that I think United will slip up in, they'll take the lead early on - see the Everton away, Villa away, Swansea away, Norwich away and Spurs away games. If those teams had got to half-time at 0-0 it could have been a totally different story, but United got the goal before half time and went on to win them. (also an issue with us to be honest, we need to try to get in front early in away games and then pick them off after that - See the fact that all our league defeats have come when drawing at half time)

Billy Sharp and Izzy McLeod are the answer!

I think everyone has forgot that the scum have got 2 very hard games out of the last 3 Us and Sunderland away. We will beat them and Sunderland under O'Neil have took 29 points from 16 games top 4 form and at home pld 9 won 7 draw 1 lost 1 not an easy place to go. The scum could easily drop 5 or 6 points in the last 3 games.

We need to win 7 out of 8 (as long as we beat them) which we did at the end of last season. It will be close but we can do it and been written off can only help.

City 91 points the rags 88 points why not

Sunderland will have nothing riding on that game. United will piss it.

Sunderland H 3 points can't see us losing at home but the O'sheas and Browns will be up for it.

Arsenal A 1 point toughest game but we could easily take all 3 because they won't put 10 men behind the ball.

West Brom H 3 points again can't see us losing at home.

Norwich A 3 points Tevez will be fully fit by then and he's what we need away from home.

Wolves A 3 points simply because there crap and we surely can't drop points to a championship side but stranger things have happened and the in Manchester City.

Derby H 3 points it's simply the only result we can ask for we lose this they win the league simple as but we are much better than them.

Newcastle A 1 point this will be a tough test especially with it being there final home game and challenging for Europa league maybe even Champions league.

QPR H 3 points lets finish the season on a high send Hughes home crying with a massive win and hopefully a trophy at the end.

20 points finishes us on 90. So can the Rags get less than 17? So looks like they need 2 draws and a loss to take it to goal difference we need to start scoring more goals starting saturday. Goals in the derby count for 2 so hopefully we cann give em another 6-1 :) Boy its gunna be tight but boy it's fun :)

= 88 = 86

Thats actually a measured and fair predictiction. However I feel the Rags will beat both Everton and Wigan, but we'll beat Norwich and possibly Newcastle (its a big ask though). We need someone other than ourselves to beat them, realistically it's Blackburn and Sunderland.

Its only fair and measured because you want it to be.

3 wins for the rags in the next 8 games? Are you serious....They have just won 9 out of the last 10.

My prediction is next time United are in danger, the referee will award them a penalty or help them see out the game.

That's my thinking too. The way I see it is that whoever is leading the table after the derby will almost certainly go on to win the league.
