My YouTube channel - Episode 47 (P25)

OOOOOOHHH a party :) Those flowers look like posies and it's nice that the Americans show their flag off any chance they get.

Bears
Cougars
Snakes
Poisonous Spiders

And now you have to wear waders to protect yourself from Ticks? There's dying for your art and there's dying for your art.

That first still photo was incredible.

Grandmaster Flash deployed perfectly :)

I'm a bit older than you and they wouldn't have found my body until next spring thaw getting up that bloody slippery slope, well done for the woody woodsman attitude.

Yes wondering how many watching got the Grandmaster bit ha ha I was tempted to go “ahuhh ahuhh”

Next weeks episode is my new favourite. It’s a bridge with a difference and I am the first person to film there (or to film and to put it on YouTube) so a world exclusive!!!!

*Comma after the word "yes"

Comma after the word "favourite", not full stop as the sentence is expanded.

One exclamation mark is sufficient.

:) x

Are there any old timers still alive who built them? Interviewing them would be cool.

Also what type of wood is used?

Do you know if any spanners were involved?

Historical Wood Choices
  • Eastern Hemlock, White Pine, and Spruce:
These were common in the first-growth forests of the eastern United States, providing large, high-quality timbers for construction.

  • Douglas Fir:
A strong and naturally durable softwood, Douglas Fir was the preferred choice for covered bridges in the western United States.

  • Southern Yellow Pine:
Found in southern regions, this timber was also used for its strength and workability.

Seeing as most bridges were built between 1830 and 1890, there is no one around anymore!
Milton Graton was known as the “last covered bridge maker” building them from the 1940’s to the 70’s when he died and his son Arnold who carried on the business passed away earlier this year aged 89. He would have been the last link to the traditional builders. The last one re-built in Vermont was last year. There aren’t any plans for others to be rehabilitated (though there are a couple that are currently on dry land waiting for funding to be worked on) so there’s not much work in the business these days!

First thing I notice are girders, lots of girders.

Yeah that bridge looks a bit fucked.

The moved bridge has been moved for 78 years, must have been fixed up a fair few times, and what's with the skeleton ? (Ignore that you explained it at the end) :-)

Fuck me I thought those were ICE officers for a moment mate, close call. Fair play to the guy in the middle who has returned to work after a Bear attack, id he's have been working for Manchester council his rep would have had him signing in sick for at least 5 years.

Other than a couple of sections of the roof it looks exactly the same as it did in 1947!

The bloke with the arm sling was Dave the gaffer so I was grateful he was there!

Not a bad piece!

Episode 40....WOW :)

Do my eyes deceive me or is that a fancier bridge sign than most? Overall this bridge looks newer/better made/more sturdy.

4:17 into the video that view of the bridge, the still photo makes the bridge have a feel of a transport carrying airplane.

When you panned the camera down there and said let's have a look under the bridge with I expected to see a drone warming up, you don a pair of Biggles goggles and the investigation to begin.

That staircase looks like it could be a killer when it's drenched. Here's a question, do states argue about where these bridges lie or do they just get on about it if they lie in 2 states.

Like the French do with the English channel making up some silly bunch of words where they don't have to mention the English but a part of a shirt ? :)

People shooting at Bears-Snakes and poisonous Spiders in the background but like a true Moston lad you couldn't give a fuck and carry on filming. And to add insult to injury this went and happened.

"Using the tree as a buffer"? WTF are you trying to kill yourself?

There are 3 bridges in the whole of the US that link 2 states and all 3 are in Vermont, crossing the Connecticut River into New Hampshire.
What is unique about this is that before Vermont existed as a state, New York and New Hampshire actually fought (physically) over the territory. In the end, the King at the time (forgot which one) declared that New York could have up to the river. Now normally the middle of the river is the boundary but the King stated the whole width of the river belongs to New Hampshire. This exists today and New Hampshire are responsible for the upkeep of all of the bridges crossing the river.
In my town, just last year, a new bridge was built to by pass a very old and rusting (and narrow) steel bridge and it didn’t cost Vermonters one cent as New Hampshire paid for it all even though one end is in my town!

As for that picture of the quick sand…… well, let’s just say you will enjoy next weeks episode!
