There's quite a lot about her on the BJ. thread and the BBC one but she must have one of her own. She was wheeled on to C4 News at 7.00 tonight and was asked about Johnson blaming Starmer for failing to prosecute Jimmy Saville when he was DPP.

Krishnan told her that this was an old meme, had been fact checked and found to be false. She mumbled an answer, along the lines that "I don't know about that" and concluded that Johnson"tells the truth." She did know about it because she was rebuked by the Tory whips when she retweeted the allegation two years ago.

She also retweeted something from Yaxley-Lennon, albeit some years ago.

The clip from today made her appear that drink had been taken. If anyone can copy the YouTube link to this thread, I would be grateful because I have no idea how to but it's good.

Your wish is my command - drink destroys your brain kids ( and your balance ) - don't do it

This government is made up of people who act stupid to financially benefit from their positions, and genuinely stupid people put there to facilitate the others and act as cannon fodder.

Nadine Dorries is the latter.

As Krishnan said, there is nothing he could do that would stop her defending him.

She's the Lauren Bobart of British politics.

If she had a TiKTok account she'd be lethal.

It's not a bad comparison because like Bobart and MTG, they'd be dangerous if they weren't so absolutely fucking looney that nothing they do is taken seriously.

She is fascinating case though.

On the BBC today she said she's been an ally of Boris Johnson's for 12 years and if you look at her parlimentary career, 12 years ago she was on the way out. She'd been investigated for criminal expense uses, she'd been in massive rows with Bercow and Cameron, she was desperate enough to risk her seat by going on I'm a Celebrity. That gets her suspended by the party, in more hot water over declaring her fee, and the whip removed. She's circling the drain right up to the moment she becomes allies with Johnson.

And then she just disappeared for 5 or 6 years until Johnson was elected and she reemerges as part of his circle.

Every interview I've seen with her looks like the reporter has just pulled a random pissed up women from wetherspoons and asked a few questions.
Ironically you'd probably get more sense out of a random pissed up women from wetherspoons.
What a sad indictment of the tory party when this fucking moron can hold such high office.

The bar is set very low though.

She sees a lot of herself in her great leader - two people in politics (not politicians) who think that developing a ‘character’ is more important than having any political nous or ability, and sadly she may be right.
No real leader of any gravity would have her anywhere near a cabinet position. Anyhoo, looking forward to the weekend and having a dorries full!

They treat us with absolute contempt. And people that vote for Johnson, her and others of his and her ilk deserve that contempt.

Correct..... one is employed as a researcher on £80,000 a year... and the other is employed as an aide on £25,000 a year despite being also employed on a full time basis in a solicitors office.
It's amazing how quickly they got back to ripping off the taxpayer after riding out that little scandal, isn't it? Even managed to get a massive pay rise into the bargain. Did anything actually change as a result of the expenses scandal? Because in 2009, she was investigated for claiming 24k for a second home that was actually her main residence (and yet somehow didn't end up in prison for fraud, because if it's the taxpayer you're stealing from, apparently it's fine), which is small change compared to the obvious overpaying of her daughter. Why would a researcher for an MP be paid the same as an MP? I've seen jobs advertised as a researcher, and unless it's in a science laboratory, it's typically a pretty junior role, and even as a senior researcher in a university, most people would be lucky to be on over 80k.

But yeah, an absolute liability who was handed a safe seat because the Tories wanted a token working class woman on their benches. Which I guess is slightly better than their usual use of safe seats, which is to get another Eton chum on the gravy train.

I'm not sure the £80k for one of her daughter's annual salary is correct.

80k is almost the same as an MP's salary. Unless it is being paid with outside donations, it would seem excessively high.

Can't see any reports of it other than those that refer to 80k as the total.

They did change the rules so MPs couldn't employ their family, although it wasn't retroactive. Which meant those already employed before the legislation could stay.

Perhaps it would have made better sense to give them severance packages and employ people not related to MPs.
