Went to Naples in 1979 and it was fucking shit.
The place stank and everyone was trying to rip you off.

Have been to Pompeii several times since but each time I've stayed in Rome and gone for the day.

I'd put money on the infrastructure not having had a penny spent on it since 1979 too! Only thing flourishing here is the flies!

Head along the sea-front to the west of the Port area for about 15-20mins and it's quite pleasant, there are a few decent bar/restaurants on the prom.
