Nasri back in full training

I've got high hopes for Nasri next season. I've given him plenty of flack before, and had wanted him sold last summer, and on several occasions before.

However his stock is so low at the minute I would persevere with him. The upside is huge. I believe Pep could do wonders with him, as he has so much talent and so many things Pep will like. He has also shown how intelligent he is and tactically aware too, and how he is willing to put the team ahead of himself by playing a certain role under Mancini etc.

He is also very versatile - I can see Pep loving this side of his game. I believe he could be used in a number of positions with the right practice and training (number 10, inside forward on either wing, false striker, or in a deeper role in a midfield 3). And we've missed his ability to keep possession too, more than I ever thought we would.

Importantly we miss his attitude too, yes he has his failings and has shown terrible shithouse behaviour at times, but he doesn't stand for any bollocks and says things like they are, and he has got some fight and bollocks that others could do with.

Hopefully he will feel like a new £30m signing next season.

I feel exactly the same blue. Pep will either make him or break him when it comes to City and I sincerely hope its the former.

EDIT - actually I know it will be the former :)

I've always felt that you could tell whether someone has a clue or not by whether they rate Nasri or not. I'd love to see him play in the playmaker role and feel that he has the full backing of the manager. Top quality player.

I've always felt that you could tell whether someone has a clue or not by how narrowly or roundly they judge a player's contribution.

I feel the same, i think he will flourish under Pep, the lad has some silky skills, great ball retention, a true footballing brain and he can take corners.

It wasn't long ago i had him down as captain material. (back on the tablets now) ;)

Never would i have Nasri being the captain .
Been a big miss this season though .

Also, consider that when he comes, all the players will be out for international duty and nasri will be one of them, who will be available.
So he has chance to impress, get on with pep and make a good relationship with him. Also as he will be back to training earlier, in friendly games he will be used
from the beginning and further everything depends on him. I think pep will love him and see new xavi or iniesta, as he did back in 2008, when first arrived at barca.

One thing is clear :D
This injury helped him very, very much :D

It's a shame mate, I really enjoy this forum as I like reading/talking about city. But it's hard sifting through the constant negativity to find things actually worth talking about.
If you dare question someone's negativity oh get roundly called a happy-clapper and You can tell the discussion will go nowhere.

I know city fans are renowned for our pessimism but there's a difference between the charming self deprecation we are so good at and the tar pit of negativity this website has become.
Absolutely spot on

Looking forward to seeing if this myth of him being our most important player rings true or wherever it's just the usual case of injured players becoming better the longer they're out.

Not sure about captain either, but I did like what @mansour's tow ropes had to say about him having some fight and bollocks about him. Fingers crossed he can play a solid part in the rest of this season to get his sharpness back - hopefully it will light a rocket under some of the other lads too.

He's always slowed us down. Even when he played for us earlier this season he slowed down our tempo when we were actually playing with a bit of tempo. But we're so slow and wide right now that inserting him will at least add some quality to the pretty lousy way we're attacking at the moment. I think he'll help because we're so bereft of creativity with Silva on the form he's on and KDB out, but I'm not sure he's going to unlock some free flowing attacking football that we used to play. Just hopefully help us create more from the extremely wide triangle FB overlap that we insist on trying to make work.

Apart from his apathetic attitude,he is one of the most annoying players ive witnessed......while obviously talented he doesn't offer the threat he should do,his play is often lethargic and lacks penetration and the safe ball is often favoured, mostly sideways or backwards.I agree his return is welcome as it does offer us another option and a variety to our current predictable play......but lets not pretend its the return of a game changer because, that,he isn't.

Highest win rate of all our players apparently at 86%.

I like his style never understand those that don't but there are quite a few. Very glad he is back.

If his 'style' was consistent then I'm sure many more would like it. Unfortunately it's far from it and as good as he is there's no doubts he hasn't hit as high a ceiling as myself and others thought he would. Top player and having him back is good news but anyone thinking he's the missing piece are kidding themselves.

Stick with it. I used to have a boss year's ago, who would remind me on the bad days,...."Don't let the ba**ards grind you down".
