For me, he was our best player last season. Didn't put a foot wrong all season. It's a shame because I feel if we sign Gvardiol and play 3-2-4-1 as predicted, he could spend a lot of next season on the bench

Fully deserved. From the club’s perspective, it’s also really important to have him tied down before Gvardiol joins because there is no world in which Gvardiol’s arrival doesn’t mean reduced minutes for Ake.

Great news. Could have taken the easy option and pushed for a move last summer after a couple of stop start seasons but battled back to become one of our best players in a treble winning campaign.
