Happy with this signing, homegrown, has a bit of pace which is an issue with our current cb's and he is also good in the air. I think he is better than both Stones and Otamendi, who need to be moved on now imo. We still need to sign another top class cb to partner Laporte imo, a player in the Koulibaly mould.
I am in them lolRumor in my townhome is that he was so good that season he made Ashley Cole blush.
He can’t play in the CLWould be great if he went from relegation to CL winner in the space of 4 weeks!
He's a cracking player. Better than Otta and Stones IMO. Fast, good in a tackle. Prem proven, will hit the ground running. Homegrown as well all for 40 million which let's face it is the going rate for an established top league centreback.
There's no such thing as 'the English quota'. There is however the 'Association Trained' quota of 4 spots for UEFA competitions which Ake would qualify for, he would also qualify for the 'Homegrown' quota of 8 for the PL squad. So I was having a disagreement with an acquaintance and I was arguing that I would rather have Tyrone Mings than Nathan Ake... am I totally in the wrong on this? What's the general consensus on that? Mings might be worse on the ball but hes stronger, better in the air, I think quicker, hits the English quota.. I don't know, neither one quite does it for me a the level we are at but eh, what do I know haha
So he counts as home grown even though he's Dutch, how strange. There's no such thing as 'the English quota'. There is however the 'Association Trained' quota of 4 spots for UEFA competitions which Ake would qualify for, he would also qualify for the 'Homegrown' quota of 8 for the PL squad.
Edit: and Ake suits us more than Mings would.
