Nathan Ake

Must admit I've gradually come round to this over a period of weeks. Didn't want Aké to go, at all, but by God if someone's foolish enough to shell out £50 million, come on, you've got to separate a fool and his money. That said, there's no proof that that's what it's going to be.
With the money that we've got from Jesus, Sterling and potentially this (not forgetting Lavia, which was far from a negligible sum for essentially an academy player), we must surely be able to find a centre back in England or Europe who can do the job as a good back-up.
I'll still be very disappointed if we don't get Cucu, though.
40m was way over the top for Ake, and let's be honest he has been nothing more than decent, listening to some on here you think we are loosing Baresi.

Lets face it we overpaid for him, been nothing more than a good back up. Seems a good guy and a solid professional but, he is fourth choice and for me has spent too much time on the treatment table including the end of the season when we needed him If, he stays then fine but hopefully we get £50M and promote Mbete

Agree with all but Mbete is nowhere near ready at this stage, CB is a huge position.

Say this we’re true for the sake of argument.

From a contractual point of view how does this work so that City don’t sign someone and thenChelsea change their mind?

Is a legally binding agreement drawn up to ensure both parties agree that if City buy then Chelsea buy? Often wondered.

Can only be an verbal agreement at this stage I assume and nothing legally binding . Given that we did the sterling deal, I assume the relations are cordial so there maybe a bit of weight behind any understanding.

Ofcourse I am assuming from my end.

There wont be any contracts at this stage. Txiki will have spoken to Chelsea and agreed a price and then thats it. We will then put our deal in place to sign Pau Torres or whoever and then all the deals get done together

I actually think if he signs as a Chelsea first choice Centre back they are weaker
than last season
He isn’t better than Rudiger and is rightly our fourth choice
It looks like he wants to go has had injury issues so £50m is a deal for us
As long as we replace which I’m sure we will

Rudiger to Ake is an enormous drop in quality, Rudiger is a thug but a quality defender.
